Social Profile:

Located at 2919 N Flores St. Outlaw Kitchens is the brainchild of former CIA instructor, Chef Paul Sartory and his wife Peggy Howe. While working for the CIA, Chef Sartory developed the concept of Outlaw Kitchens. His idea was simple. He would offer one dinner nightly (plus a vegetarian option, an appetizer, desserts, wine & beer) at a price that his friends and neighbors could afford on a regular basis. With fresh, seasonal ingredients in mind and a wife who is skilled at historical renovations they succeeded in turning an 80 year old limestone bungalow located on a quarter acre of land into their home, garden and restaurant.

September 25–Date night at Outlaw Kitchens in a charming converted bungalow in Midtown. The menu changes on a weekly basis and offers individual course, 3-course prix fixe, and beverage pairings. We got the 3-course prix fixe option with pork schnitzel and fettuccine carbonara as our main courses. The pork schnitzel was crispy, tender, and not greasy with a fantastic lemon, caper, and white wine demiglace, whereas the fettuccine was fresh made pasta and sauce paired with a salad and light and refreshing lemon vinaigrette. We look forward to returning and trying new menu items—very thoughtful and well done.

I enjoyed every bite of my food. Each dish tasted like a hug from my grandma. Very well done and I highly recommend. I also love that their menu rotates weekly.

Also great for solo diners like myself.

I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans followed by the Portuguese orange olive oil cake for dessert.

Food was absolutely amazing. We went the appetizer was shrimp scampi, entrees were steak Diane or 100 layer lasagne and desert was Basque cheesecake or chocolate torte. The only thing that could have been improved would have been a creamier Basque cheesecake and more mascerated strawberries with the cheesecake. Everything else was perfect and amazing.

My husband and I have eaten at Outlaw Kitchen two weeks in a row for Restaurant Week. The food, service, and ambiance is simply amazing.

The quality of the food and the manner the dishes were prepared was excellent from the appetizer, dinner and dessert. Jane, thank you for being the best baker!

The service is impeccable. Natalie was our waitress for our first visit and was so amazing we asked for her again on our second visit. Natalie explains the menu dishes, cocktails and how Outlaw Kitchen has alternative ways to ordering dishes extremely well. She makes excellent cocktails with her own twist- super tasty!

Outlaw Kitchen is in a quaint house with a nice size outdoor seating area. The sitting areas inside are small so make reservations ahead and ask for Natalie as your server. For winter time, bring a jacket or coat as it can be chilly inside but well worth it. Parking is on the street which is a short walk to the restaurant.

Thank you Chef, Jane, and especially Natalie for making Outlaw Kitchen our new favorite restaurant.

We had an early Saturday reservation.Gumbo was great. The lasagna was darn good even though I am more partial to traditional lasagna. The barbeque was very tasty but was delivered cold. At proper serving temp I think this would be phenomenal. The drink parings were a mixed bag the two aperitifs were crazy good. The wine with the main course were a disappointment. Skip the pairings and order your wine from the menu.

Natalie has been our server a few times now and consistently goes above and beyond to make sure we love the wine, food, and general service. She’s amazing! Always checks in on us and has even moved us to a more private table so my husband and I could get a better view. We also love the turkey that roams around outside and absolutely love the vibe of this place. Definitely one of the most unique places to eat in San Antonio since the menu changes each week. We once brought six of our friends for a special holiday dinner and they loved the food and service. Cannot say enough about this place!

Love this place. The staff is quirky but well trained and informed. They love what they are doing and it shows. The menu is limited but well executed!
Indoor dining is good but take advantage of outdoors when the weather is nice.

My husband and I visit San Antonio once a year. This restaurant, by far, is the best restaurant in San Antonio. The food was outstanding. The service impeccable and the music was great! The vibe is fantastic and Natalie, Jade and the chef Justin are absolutely fabulous! We will positively return on our next trip to San Antonio and cannot wait!!! Thank you Natalie and Jade!
