Even though I did not try the restaurant, I stay at the Inn 3 days and 2 night. Comfortable, clean, the staff is super friendly and helpful. Complementary breakfast and super quirt. I will definitely open my schedule soon 5o came back and relax by the ocean.

I love this place, it’s so quaint and charming, sits right on the Cliffside. The ocean is right beside you as you dine. Food is always good, and the staff is so very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Salmon on a bed of rice, topped with artichoke and lemon drizzle, huevos rancheros and the organic mixed greens salad. Been craving it since. Just the atmosphere is reason enough to stop in.

We were really disappointed because we’d had great food in Carpinteria up until this point. Cliff House Inn is a great place to stay — unfortunately the restaurant does not match the hotel.

We got the calamari, clam chowder, lobster risotto with scallops, and steak. The calamari was good, standard calamari in a decent sized serving. The clam chowder was probably the best part of the meal — it was a bit more on the brothy side and very flavorful. A unique take on the standard thick, creamy clam chowder.

Unfortunately the rest of the meal was a disappointment. My husband had ordered his steak medium rare, and it came out rare. Like, not more pink than usual, full rare with blood and it was actually hard to cut into. It was taken back and he got it back on the medium well side, as almost always happens when you send undercooked meat back. Undercooked steak happens sometimes, but I wouldn’t expect it from a place charging almost $50. And even cooked, it was just…kind of tasteless. The grilled vegetables on the side were also undercooked, too crunchy.

My grilled scallops and lobster risotto were okay, but nothing to write home about. It was just too salty and frankly, kind of boring. Over salting takes away the nuance of flavor — and seafood already brings so much natural flavor that just needs to be enhanced!

I think most people come here for the view and that is what you’re paying for. If you’re staying at the hotel you already get the ambiance (and it is spectacular) so I would recommend skipping the restaurant. We had far better meals in town.

I think the restaurant needs to do better — we shouldn’t be paying almost $50 per plate for undercooked and over salted food. A spectacular view deserves food to match.

The food was delicious. Worth the wait. There seemed to be only one server for the entire restaurant, but she was very friendly and positive. Bus-staff was helpful and attentive. Martini was served a la 007- shaken rather than stirred and “a twist” was 4 mini olives. Oh well. It still complimented the steak. The bananas/ice cream/ almonds dessert was fantastic!

The view is amazing, however the food was a mixed bag. My burger was a frozen Costco patty that was undercooked. My guest had the chioppino and enjoyed it.

The service was good, but I think they were understaffed. It took over an hour to get our food.

Had an amazing brunch at one of my favorite hotels in Ventura. The shoals’ restaurant is a hidden gem beautiful beach view. Amazing food. Great service and is very affordable. If you want to impress a girl this is the place to visit.

I love the vibe here it’s so peaceful. It feels like heaven. I decided to sit outdoors to enjoy the beach. Every now and then you’ll see dolphins swimming. The sunsets are the best here.

A little too expensive, but absolutely worth it. You’re mostly paying for the location here and although I think the menu should offer more variety, the food is fantastic! The scallops are a must, and their pastas are also amazing! The place is a bit small but try to get outdoor seating, which is why I usually come here. They have a great wine selection as well as some mixed cocktail options. Great for any birthday or special occasion! Would highly recommend if you’re ever in the area! Try to make a reservation if possible!
