Gil’s is a magical place. I have taken a few friends here and each time they ask “what’s on the menu?” Pizza. Gil’s has pizza. A singularly focused craft that has paid off in spades after years upon years of perfecting the work.
It’s just so good. While more and more pizza places skimp and save on cheese, Gil’s will make sure you get your money’s worth. Asking for extra cheese will feel like you are pushing the limits of what dough can hold. The sauce? Not just generic “pizza” flavor, if you know what I mean. It has a bit of spice. Some life to it. You feel alive again. You remember what it means to try something different. For pizza to not just taste the same everywhere. The dough? Fresh. A bit of crisp, but still soft. Order double dough and you’ll question where it has been all your life.
The place is designed for efficiency. You place your order on the phone. No upselling. You come inside, you pay for your pizza, you get it. You try not to eat it on the way home. But don’t be mistaken, the folks working the counter and oven are super nice, you just won’t have to wait long to get your order and go. I don’t believe in the years I’ve been ordering that I’ve ever had to wait longer than the estimate I got on the phone.
I know this review has been a bit funny and sounds like an exaggeration, but Gil’s really is the real deal. We probably go once a month, for years now, and haven’t gotten sick of it. Never got a bad pie, the prices are fair, and the staff really are nice people. I can’t recommend it enough.

Was looking for a place to re-experience anchovy on pizza since years and years ago, so I got a half sausage half anchovy pizza with meat sauce. The box was clearly labelled which half was which.
I am glad to say the anchovy side was pleasant and not nearly as overbearingly salty as I remember from another place. The sausage was good too.
The pizza itself is great, a nice light and airy pizza with the right amount of crispiness. Dough is a bit on the thinner side but I enjoy that. The meat sauce was tasty as well and the cheese/toppings did not come with a layer of grease. The toppings are underneath the cheese which keeps them in place within the blanket of cheese. The sauce is flavorful without being overbearingly sweet or heavy.
I personally also enjoy that the website front for this business is just one page, which is the contact information and what’s on their menu, which is three items; 12 inch cheese pizza plus what toppings they offer, their deluxe pizza, and soda. Communication was quick and to the point, no fuss. You order your pizza and you pick it up with no issues. I even got a punch card 🙂
It’s all around a good place that’ll fit your basic lunch needs for one or two people per pizza that shouldn’t disappoint. I recommend this place.

Heard about this place from a TikTok video. My wife and I always lament that there are no good basic pizza places left in the area. We like fancy joints but sometimes we want just regular comfort pizza. This place totally hits the spot. On my second visit I asked for it well done and it was perfect, just what I wanted. I can see Gil’s becoming a staple for us.

A mom and pop kind of pizza shop with a unique approach. They have the toppings under the cheese, which actually makes the pizza eating experience awesome. The toppings being sandwiched between the cheese and sauce intensifies the flavor and adds a good punch. It’s very unique and works out very well. The older gentleman serving me was very nice and helpful about their punch card program. Pizza was a nice size for one, and still had some leftovers. Highly recommend and I will be coming back for more!

The customer service was good however the pizza was soggy. The person making the pizza did no wear gloves. Although that is not an issue for me, i didn’t see him wash his hands before preparing it(I wasn’t paying any attention either). Other people love it but it wasn’t to my liking

The flavor is great, the service, and the old school vibes are great. But the texture is horrendous. No structural integrity. If you try to pick up a slice, the crust completely falls off! Maybe if they actually baked it “well done” like I had requested.

Not to sure what to add here, y’all really covered it. Will say as a baltimore born and raised dude primarily in southwest I didn’t get over this way enough to be aware of Gil’s back in the day. Finally made the trip over today. It was amazing. Absolute dwarves the hype. Get over here and try it. It is really incredible.

Love Gil’s Pizza! I’ve been getting pizza from there for almost 50 years. I don’t think much has changed in that time. It’s a different owner, who is very friendly, and some plexiglass was put up but it still taste like the same pizza from when I was a kid. I hope it never changes.
