Whether it’s a family dinner, a business lunch, or a night out with friends, Lombardi’s never disappoints. A true local gem that captures the spirit of great Italian dining right here in New Canaan.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Always excellent.
My wife and I have been waiting to try out Lombardis. We started with the Burrata appitizer and it was delicious.
For dinner, the sea bass was super fresh and perfectly cooked — crispy skin, flaky inside, and full of flavor. The veal Milanese was another standout: crispy, tender, and topped with fresh arugula and shaved Parm. Simple but done right.
Great wine pairings too —my wife loved the Pinot Grigio with the fish and I had two glasses of the Supertuscan with the veal. Finished with an espresso and Limoncello because… why not?
Service was friendly and the vibe was classy but relaxed. Definitely coming back.
First, the food is of the highest quality. We sampled the tomahawk steak, two kinds of pasta, the calamari appetizer and the French fries which are probably the best in town, light and crispy. The calamari was also so light, not greasy! Our friends came in after seeing a movie, sat ant the bar and they raved over the lobster ravioli, the tuna tartare appetizer and the sea bass in particular. The service is excellent even though the place was packed. Attentive, not intrusive.(you know what I mean) Finally, the ambiance. The decor is tastefully understated, showing restraint, with indirect lighting, classic white linen tablecloths, crystal and hammered flatware. The chairs are very comfortable, particularly the padded, backed bar seating. I noticed soundproofing on the ceiling and walls, two thumbs up. Upstairs at Lombardis is seating for about 40 with private bar if you want to host an event, a birthday, a rehearsal dinner, whatever, a larger version of the private room at Elm or Roger Sherman. Let me conclude by saying it should always comes down to the food and value and Lombardi’s succeeds with classic Italian at a fair price.
The food is fantastic and very good quality. My pasta was delicious, the meatballs were tender and full of flavour and the mozzarella and prosciutto were high quality.
Our waiter was very nice and was professional.
Unfortunately it is loud inside and the tables are very small, (two appetisers didn’t fit on our table!) The restaurant is priced on the higher end and is positioning itself as a fine dining option, but the atmosphere didn’t quite match that.
Overall, worth checking out, you won’t be disappointed by the food
One standout dish that deserves special mention is the squid ink pasta with shrimp tartare, featuring shrimp imported directly from Mazara del Vallo, creamy stracciatella and toasted pistachios.
Each bite transports you straight to the Mediterranean.
The ambiance is as thoughtfully crafted as the menu—sophisticated, warm, and effortlessly stylish. Service is attentive without being overbearing, making the entire experience seamless from start to finish. Bravo
Can’t wait to come back!!!
My husband had the fettuccine with truffle and said it’s the first time in ages he’s found one that actually lived up to his expectations—it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the staff couldn’t have been better—friendly, knowledgeable, and super professional. We’re already talking about when we can go back!
