This place has nice and cozy small town vibes, antique and industrial decor, and seating arranged to encourage conversation. The menu had lots of options. Interesting juice blends, smoothies and cafe classics. Then there was a breakfast and lunch options, sandwiches and pastries. If I was a local, I’d probably be passing through frequently. My only criticism is they should list the prices on the menu on the wall because if they were on there I didn’t see them.

I’m tucked into my usual spot this morning, with the winter morning light filtering through the windows, while I sip on my ice coffee nestled in my favorite cozy. There are plenty of tasty treats, just like Mom and Grandma used to bake, which I poorly restrain myself from eating too many of.
The whole space feels like an old-time country store where everyone knows your name. Friendly hellos from the staff, locals chatting over their brews… it’s that honest small-town country store vibe that keeps me coming back.

I have been to the bean multiple times and have been repeatedly disappointed. Once entering, I am normally the one to greet whomever is at the counter then they are to greet me (the customer). Recently I ordered the toast with egg and avocado. The bread was barely toasted with scrambled eggs on top and chunks of avocado. The cream cheese was the thinnest layer on the bottom which made the bread so soft that I could barely pick it up without the contents falling onto the plate. The avocado chunks did not even sit well on the “toast”. I would recommend getting bread that is more durable to hold the toppings and slicing the avocado so it doesn’t move around all over whilst you eat it and trying doing a fried egg over scrambled. Also the drinks have been repeatedly subpar. For being a coffee shop, I would recommend the coffee last. I’ve only forced myself to finish my drink because of how much I paid for it. Living in North East, I would love to be a frequent customer but what is being offered is not good. Also friendly reminder that baristas should be wearing hair coverings ! I have never seen a barista with one. Just wait til the health department comes …

If you haven’t been here you have to go! We love this place. Great staff, delicious food, and amazing coffee. We always stop when we’re in town. Just like we did today!

This Bean is lovely! It’s a convenient distance to hop off the highway and get great coffee and a quick bite. I wish I’d had longer to settle in and appreciate the unique and comfortable space. The food selection was impressive for an independent shop, definitely would not hesitate to settle in with friends or solo with a good book.
Will definitely remember to stop the next time I pass through.

We were driving by on I-90 and needed to find a coffee shop and Google led us here. We really like supporting independent coffee shops especially ones with in house roasting. Not sure which coffee went into my latte… I got a medium and TBH, there was not much coffee flavor. It was basically a warm cup of milk. Next time I’ll get either a small latte or else just stay away from milk drinks. The interior looked pretty interesting with different seating areas. And the history of the place is cool – there a plaque on the wall outside documenting what businesses have been there. Barber shops, shoe stores, and coffee shops. We’ll be back!

A nice coffee spot for when you visit North East !
Tried their cold brew and latte today, both were delicious. There were good selections of baked good as well as breakfast/brunch options to choose from.
The place was very well-decorated inside as well. A perfect spot to hang out, read or get some work done.
Will definitely be back when I visit North East again.

I’ll be surprised if this review doesn’t get scrubbed from the google page. This review isn’t to drag the business but as constructive criticism as a first-time patron. The front of house looked unkempt with dusty coffee bean bags being stored at the front of house. Upon entry, we were greeted but then the attendant quickly disappeared to the back of house. Not the greatest first impression. If I owned a business, upon greeting I would ask an open ended question like “what can I get started for you?” The baked goods lacked imagination and were all wrapped individually in what looked like loosely fitting, already used saran wrap, it wasn’t very inspiring. The spread was your standard cookie bar, muffins and loaves. Nothing titillating. The menu showed only 2 espresso-based options which made me hesitant in asking for something off menu. There were no other patrons in-house which was pretty indicative. I get that downtown, North East isn’t the busiest of places but if you offer something delicious, unique and memorable, people will come in droves from states over. I want to support local business like this but where is the pride?

Such a cute local spot with a great atmosphere and lots of delicious options! My husband and I stopped in while visiting the area and loved the lotus drinks so much we came back for more the next day! Our first visit with friends the kitchen was closed due to staffing, but we were able to try food the following day and it was super tasty and worth the wait!
There was plenty of street parking available but it’s also in a very walkable area! Clean, comfortable bathrooms as well.
The staff was great both visits and answered any questions we had about the menu!
Definitely recommend stopping by whether you’re just passing through like us or local to the area!

Visited from Nashville and was really impressed with the atmosphere, staff, service, and quality of beverages! Ended up going twice while in North East — even bought a tank because the merchandise is awesome quality. The girl running the bar was exceptionally skilled in managing the rush that happened while she was running the bar solo. Great experience overall. Next time I’m in North East, I’ll have to try the food. Also seems like a great spot to catch up with friends or get some work done.
