We liked the counter ordering but amazing and quick service of a traditional restaurant.
We always love their pork XLB and biang biang noodles. We have gotten their popcorn chicken (taiwanese style) and scallion pancakes which we enjoyed at the Frisco location. The beef roll was also delicious to me but not my wife.
Yelp suggested 88 Baobao and we were happy to try them in McKinney Tx, but had tried and liked their Cali branch earlier!
First of all a wide smile and eagerness to serve seemed ingrained into the staff here.
We ordered quickly and our food was brought quickly !
It was served piping hot and for the first time in a long while I thoroughly enjoyed slurping my XLB while came in quickly and almost too hot to eat! Yumm!
We also got the HarGaw and enjoyed them thoroughly as well !
Portion sizes were huge so the Shrimp Fried Rice and the Kung Pao Chicken that we ordered, though tantalizingly inviting, had to be taken as to go after only a few bites!
We loved everything about this place and place to come again very soon!
Chicken Steamed Dumplings – 4/5
Lo Mein – 5/5
Chicken Fried Rice – 4/5
Stir Fried Green Beans – 5/5
Fried Balls with Condensed Milk – 5/5
I love dumplings so I was excited for this to open and it didn’t disappoint. The wait staff is friendly, the food came out quick and hot, the soup dumplings and green beans were amazing. Highly recommend.
You get 8 dumplings and I’d say each side is good for 2-3 people. My pictures were after we’d eaten about half.
Will definitely be back as a regular customer.
I visited 88 BaoBao in McKinney, and it was such a pleasant surprise! The restaurant is bright, clean, and cozy — perfect for enjoying authentic Chinese comfort food.
The staff were warm and attentive, always smiling and quick to serve. You can tell they really care about the dining experience.
The food was outstanding. The pork soup dumplings (xiao long bao) were juicy and flavorful with thin, delicate wrappers. The crab & pork dumplings, pork bun, and egg custard buns were also amazing — each bite felt fresh and handmade. I also recommend the scallion pancake and beef roll, both crispy and full of flavor.
Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and everything tastes authentic. You can really feel the craftsmanship in every dish.
If it gets a bit busy during peak hours, the wait is totally worth it. This is easily one of the best Chinese dumpling spots in McKinney. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be coming back again!
We ordered chicken fried rice, beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken, and pork Xiao Long Bao. The fried rice came in a large portion. We asked for no onions or green onions, and it was cooked exactly how we wanted.
The beef noodle soup’s broth wasn’t very rich in flavor. Also, the menu marked it as spicy, but it was actually quite mild.
The Xiao Long Bao was my favorite — it had soup inside! Just make sure to eat it quickly; with the AC blowing from above, the wrapper dries out fast.
