I’ll preface this by saying: I don’t blame the wait staff at all. A sign in the front of the restaurant says “under new management” and it 100% shows. The staff did the best they could with being understaffed, over booked, and tried to give people a decent experience while actively running out of food. They were under-staffed for one of the busiest nights of the year (Valentine’s Day), and as a result service was some of the slowest I’ve ever experienced (we waited over an hour for our appetizer course), and OpenTable apparently gave them a run for their money by booking too many tables (they’re supposed to close at 8:30, and a couple seated behind us had a reservation FOR 8:30). They kept running out of things on their pre-fixe menu, they had to substitute with lesser quality items (they did adjust the price for us in this instance), the portions were small for the price, and some of the food was just bad (the bisque tasted like burnt butter). I mentioned the pre-fixe menu, which, they did not. At no point between booking the table and confirming our reservation and showing up did they mention the menu. We only learned about it when we sat down and it was placed in front of us. This is absolutely something that should be mentioned, especially considering the price difference and change in food options. I would heavily caution against dining here on a special occasion. I can’t speak for dinner service on a regular day, but I certainly won’t be returning to try it.
Other highlights of our visit included:
-Never being offered water (a couple seated nearby gave us their pitcher)
-The waitstaff worrying about running out of food and not getting any breaks (a position they shouldn’t have been put into)
-A couple having to leave because they ran out of the only vegan option
-Arriving at 7:45 and leaving after 10pm
I understand that dealing with OpenTable might have caused a lot of these issues and being understaffed doesn’t help, but tackling issues with booking ahead of time and over staffing on an extremely busy night would probably go a long way. Also, they need to either give people a heads-up about the set menu, or get rid of it altogether. If we had known about it we probably wouldn’t have dined here.
1. Their website did not say there would be a set menu for the night, so we could not order the food we really wanted to eat.
2. The price was $200 for 2 people.
3. The amount of food was SOOOOOOO small. Literally, 2 bites of mashed potatoes and about 4 bites of steak.
4. The food tasted good, so that’s the only positive.
5. The service was awful. On a special day that is completely booked, they should over staff. We had to ask for water, we only got our drinks after asking multiple times, and portions of the meal were being missed (like soup) at ours and other tables.
I expected a lot more overall for the very high price tag.
They ended up running out some of the menu items, so we ultimately had to leave after an hour of waiting.
2 stars instead of 1, the waiter was nice.
After waiting and finally being waited on, the only vegan option was sold out for the night and the waiter could not help to find a solution for me that did not include dairy. He was trying his best, but he was not very helpful and was definitely over worked.
The food looked good, but for the very high price and since I could not order a meal, we left to find another option.
So beware of reservation still having a very long wait and the meals to not be available and not substituting or editing the meal for an allergy.
