It feels old and the setup is awkward
price
The price is alright, have a great selection of cooked menu but only a few sushi choice
services
The server was fine, we did call in ahead of time to see how busy they were, were told there is no wait. Ten min later when we arrive there actually a few group in front of us…they have a min charge at $50 per person if you want to make reservation
Taste
Everything we ordered, from the udon, sushi, fish, app and steak, were excellent!
Minimal English on the part of my server but that just enhanced the experience. One of the sushi chefs spoke great English so I was able to sort out dinner.
I started with a salmon hand roll. Very fresh and maybe 30-seconds between the chef’s hands and my first bite. Simple yet perfect.
I also had Agadashi tofu – big portion, great broth, served piping hot and delicious.
I grabbed one of their pressed box sushi offerings and I’m glad I tried it. Salmon was slightly charred on top and what a neat approach. I’ll keep an eye open for that style whenever I’m having sushi from now on.
The final item I ordered was on a separate printed sheet that arrived with the menu. Description was in Japanese but subtitled in English. It was wasabi-marinated octopus. I was the only white guy in the place and apparently the only white guy to ever order this dish. Over the course of the meal, about half of the staff came by to see if I was eating it. Of course! It was really delicious! Someone isn’t likely to step from their first California roll to that dish but I’ve been enjoying sushi for over 40 years and found it one of the more unusual but thoroughly enjoyable and off the beaten path dishes I’ve ever had. Fresh wasabi and an almost ceviche-like mouth feel combined to make it a great experience and I’m glad I tried it, even if the staff didn’t believe I really liked it.
Went at lunch time, and they only serve a very limited lunch selections, mostly fried meats lunch box… no where on the website says that. Ok… no problem, returned at dinner time, and ordered what I thought would be very traditional Japaneses choices, but was disappointed by the service… they brought out main course before appetizers. And the chirashi was just average
AND THE FOOD IS AMAZING.
Chicken curry: chicken is so soft and crunchy; the curry sauce had little seasoned pieces of beef that really caught me by surprise. It was so good. It was so good the only picture I could get is my empty plate.
