I went here in March of 2019 and was very impressed. Fast forward to this August, my wife and I decided to take the long journey from Tacoma via Ferry and Island County bus for our anniversary. We knew that the ownership changed but wanted to try it again. The first thing we notice was the price increased a couple of $$ for the same dish. Not a big deal but it also did not include the delicious salad that was once included. Ali, the place was very hot. No air but windows open and quite a few flies buzzing around our food. The water in the carafe was room temperature. When we asked for ice they gave us one glass with ice and a spoon. Strange. Must have been conserving ice cubes. The napkins had a white dust on one side of them and smelled somewhat putrid. Service was okay. Very friendly and they even gave us a free dessert for our anniversary. Some of the staff was very friendly others not so much. Food was great and tasted the same as before on our particular dish. However, there seemed to be a lot of grit in the soup, we had. Also a few mussels tasted very strange. Not sure I would go back, though. I think it is overpriced for what you get. Would probably try a different restaurant along the waterfront at Coupville. The included photo of the salad was before the restaurant exchanged hands. Don’t know what the current one looks like.

Come for lunch! The wife and I shared the tomato bisque and each got a the mussels in white wine + butter (not shareable, will eat entire order its that good). A very friendly staff and peaceful atmosphere. Highly recommend, just make sure to come early because the restaurant will fill up.

Went for a birthday dinner with the wife on a Monday evening. Made a 530pm reservation. No wait time, very friendly waitresses welcomed us into the restaurant. Great vibes with the new bar area. They recently got a whole draft beer selection and looks like they will expand more for alcohol. Food was extraordinary. Caesar Calamari appetizer was a dish of romaine lettuce wedge with Calamari rings and legs sauteed in a delicious Caesar and Dijon sauce. Great healthy salad. Also got a cup of the house clam chowder. Definitely one of the best clam chowder a with the perfect clam to potato ratio, as well as liquid to solid ratio. A creamy rich soup. Bread is baked in house so the crust was crunchy and the whites fluffy and chewey.
Daily special of sockeye salmon on scallion pesto cream linguine was phenomenal. BIG portion so could not finish half of it. Worth every single penny paid. Pork Fantasia was a pork chop with juicy meat and a delicious caper butter sauce.
For a birthday surprise they got us a birthday special cake with a candle on it.
Finally for dessert we got the Blood Orange Pannacotta the daily special. Orange marmalade and the candied orange harmonized well with the dense, creamy pannacotta.
Overall felt like we got way more than what we paid for. Definitely coming again for a special night out!

Was a great place for a special evening date with some of the better high end food on Whidbey. We have had several bad lunch experiences and lowered rating for service, barely warm tea water, soup slightly warm and one of the worst turkey sandwiches we have seen. Most of the menu is good. Reservations generally a good idea.

Currents Bistro is a gem in the Whidbey island area. It has spectacularly fresh seafood and wonderful views of the water from outside. The staff was tremendously kind to us as we showed up 15 minutes before close and still sat us and treated us like we weren’t an inconvenience in the slightest. The food we had was deliciously fresh. We ordered the Clams Pepe-che and the Blackened Rockfish. Both were good. I’d definitely order the clams again. It was cooked with just the right flavors to highlight the subtle flavor of the clams. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area

We went here for lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon. It was packed, glad we made reservation ahead of time. They had a table ready for us when we got there. I ordered the crudité salad and my wife ordered the cod and oyster po’ boy with a cup of clam chowder. The salad quantity was adequate for a meal and tasted pretty good. My wife enjoyed the po’boy and said the clam chowder was one of the best she’s had. At the end, we shared a chocolate mousse for dessert. Again, fantastic! The staff was friendly, the ambience was nice and the food was really good. Cristopher’s is a great dining option in Coupeville.

Were recently hading home from Anacortes to Seattle the long way and stumbled upon this place. We were looking for a seafood restaurant and were super happy we found this place. Unsurprisingly when we arrived on a Saturday night during COVID without a reservation we had a little bit of a wait, but not to terrible. They were seating people inside and also had a large outside area they were using as well. We opted to sit outside.

My wife and I shared the mussel appetizer, which i guess they are known for. It was very good, the mussels were sweet and the sauce was amazing. My wife got the seafood pasta and i got the rockfish. The pasta was good with a generous portion of seafood in it and the sauce seemed similar to that used for the mussel appetizer, but a little thicker. Very good. The rockfish was not exactly what i was expecting, but was very good. The rockfish was more a mix of a paella and cioppino with a blacked rock fish fillet on top. Given, this may be the exact description of the dish in the menu, but I honestly only read the title of the dish, so had a slightly different expectation. Either way, it was super good with a ton of shrimp, mussel, and clams. We also both got side salads which had a good dressing, a bottle of wine, and shared the creme brûlée dessert. It was all very good.

The service was pretty good as well. I will give it to them that we came later in the evening and they were very busy. So with that in mind and COVID, the service was good. There were times it was a bit slow, but the staff was friendly, professional, and masked.

The view from the patio to the dock was also very pretty.

Wife and i had chicken linguini and a steak sandwhich, we split some bread and mussels. She got a caffine free rootbeer that was very good! Prices for entrees was about $10-18. Bread was complementary. Friendly staff, the patreons were dressed very casually depsite the decor being a bit more upscale. It was very cozy, with nice view of the waterfront.

My wife and i absolutely love steamed mussels and have had them all over the world. We had an order each here and they were excellent! The broth was outstanding and I could not soak it up fast enough with the bread! The wine pairing was also very good, as suggested by our server. I also have to say the staff was very friendly and helpful to everyone in our party in making their selection. A very good place to enjoy the Penn Cove mussels.
