Everything about High Ridge Adventures Outfitting and BBQ is an adventure. It’s so fun to walk into a bait and tackle shop and have amazing barbecue. We had sliced pork, brisket, and a range of sides including collards, corn soufflé, fries, okra, etc. We also loved the variety of barbecue sauces, including the mustard sauce, which was a favorite, and something I don’t usually like. We stumbled upon the place because we were looking for a back road to get home during Thanksgiving, and I’m going to go that way all the time now!

This road side outfitter had a BBQ joint inside. The brisket was very tasty and tender with lots of options for sauces. The wood smoker was going on the road side as you pulled in. The corn pudding was very good as well as the greens and Mac & cheese. Apple cobbler was dense and very tasty. Definitely stop in again.

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago and got two dinners. We tried to get a bit of everything since we were excited to try it and the reviews were good and we were SO disappointed!

The pork I had was incredibly bland, and none of the sauces available (and they have a bunch to choose from!) were particularly good. The mac n cheese would’ve been beaten out by a box of kraft. The brisket was so underwhelming too. Everything we had was just unseasoned.

When we got our baskets of food, the underside of the basket itself was greasy, and none of the tables looked like they’d been wiped down. We grabbed some napkins and wiped off our own, but never saw anyone come wipe down tables as other patrons finished and left.

The atmosphere feels like you stopped in the corner of a gas station to eat your food, and the lighting just made everything worse.

One thing to point out was that the young woman working the register was incredibly nice, welcoming, and patient when we didn’t immediately know what we wanted. She’s the reason for the extra star here.

We were really hoping to be able to add another place to our regular restaurants, but this, unfortunately, won’t be it.

Had the best BBQ of my life here. The brisket is to die for. The pulled pork was out of this world. And do not sleep on the chicken, it’s unbelievably good. Beans, greens, cornbread, and fixins were delicious. All while sitting adjacent to the bait and gun shop. If you want amazing BBQ and an authentic small town roadside dining experience—look no further. If you’re a tourist, don’t be afraid of the people looking at you a little too long thinking “you’re not from around these parts”. It’s part of the experience.

Was passing through the area and stopped here for some lunch. So glad I did. The food was delicious, good size portions and reasonably priced. The part that impressed me most was the atmosphere. Not only the workers were great and friendly, the patrons were very welcoming too. If you’re going to be near the area this restaurant is a must.

The best BBQ I have eaten, especially the ribs. Great side dishes. Collard greens and sweet corn pudding were outstanding. We went twice in one week. Dined in once and did takeout 3 days later.

Amazing BBQ place near Marshall. Great place to stop after kayaking or rafting section 9 of the French Broad River.
Had the pulled pork and brisket plate with baked beans and mac & cheese as sides.

This is a hidden gem. We stopped with a large group and every single person raved how excellent the BBQ was. I went with the Brisket. One pound is A LOT of meat. The bark was super crispy and flavorful. Amazing! Check out my pic! Corn pudding – yes please! Excellent! Fried okra and potato salad was to die for. Service with a smile. Overall just an excellent meal.

Everything was really good especially the Mac and cheese, BBQ Chicken, and fries. They were pumping out BBQ plates at the North Buncombe Fall Festival and the quality held up insanely well. Sweet tea was also perfect.

This is the place that is different when you’re tired of the chain restaurants, country food or Mexican. I had the 1/4 chicken plate with fried okra, collard greens (my favorite green here) and added an extra side, sweet corn pudding. Yummy, yum!!!! Your drink choice is unlimited. You cannot go wrong eating here.
