And we back! Tailgate Tavern in Stratham, NH was my first destination to check out after my social media break this past week+. I was told they had a decent craft beer selection & some good eats from a co-worker so I figured I’d swing in. Once I sat down & checked out the beer menu I realized it wasn’t as large or as diversified as I had hoped, but they still had some great New England staples. I’m at over 7,300 different beers drank since I started my beer journey in 2019 so it’s not easy to find a new beer I haven’t had sometimes. The place had a fun, sportscentric vibe & I could definitely see myself kicking back & watching a game or two here in the future. Some of the goods flowing here were LUNCH IPA from Maine Beer Company, Guinness Stout & the Belgian White Wheat from Blue Moon Brewing Company, but let’s get into the three pours I scooped. ☘
My first pint was the PALE ALE from Tuckerman Brewing Company, a delish NH staple & one of the first pale ales I remember having on draft years ago. I then grabbed a pour of the CZECH PILSNER from Moat Mountain Smoke House & Brewing Co., again another excellent state staple you see a lot of places & I’m sure was a good amount of people’s first craft pilsner. My last pint was one of my favorite IPA’s, just simply named IPA from Stoneface Brewing Co., I love this beer & have drank more of it than I’m proud to admit. ♂️ ☘
Of course when there is burgers on the menu I have to check out at least one. I grabbed the Texas Lonestar Burger, it was a 8oz angus patty with tomato, lettuce, pickled onions, jalapeno, cheddar, bacon & Texas sauce. There was a lot happening here, but it all mixed together to create a fun & delicious burger, definitely a little sloppy, but that’s what napkins are for. I got a side of tots with the burger which were heaven. All your usual seating options here including tables, hightops & plenty of bar seating. A fun place for sure with plenty to look at & a nice bright aesthetic inside. I do wish they had some more beer on tap or revolved taps more often, but they had some good stuff regardless. What a wonderful surprise! We visited Tailgate Tavern on a whim while driving home. It was busy on a Wednesday night, but they managed to find us a seat. The service was amazing, and our waitress gave us plenty of time to look at the menu.
They serve a variety of beers, cocktails, and wine. I love a themed cocktail menu, and their autumn-themed menu had so many options. The Fall in Love was blended perfectly and gave cozy fall vibes. The menu offers a huge selection of pizzas, sandwiches, salads, etc. The buffalo chicken tenders were drool-worthy – so much so that we ordered a second batch to bring home for lunch. The chili and honey mustard turkey wrap was also good; however, I wish I had gotten an extra side of sauce. We’ll be back for sure, and hopefully snag a seat at the bar next time.

By far, the best restaurant in the Exeter area. I’ve lived here for 6 years and have tried every spot around. The staff here is wonderful and makes it a priority to make you feel welcomed. The food is awesome and their specials are always fun and new. The regulars you meet every time make you want to come back. This restaurant gives you a sense of community while also providing and incredible spot to get dinner and relax. I cannot say enough great things about Tailgate. Try it out and see for yourself!

This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. The food is outstanding and consistently excellent, and the service is just as good. It’s become our go-to spot when we don’t feel like cooking but still want a great meal. We usually order a few different dishes so we can share—everything is that good.
We’re especially big fans of French onion soup and make a point to try it everywhere—Buckley’s, The Chop House, even The Capital Grille—but no one has beaten this one yet. @tailgatetavern

Quickly seated. Waitress was attentive. I tried the French onion burger with dipping soup. Wife had apple fig flatbread. We thought everything was delicious. Would definitely go back.

I had never been to the Tailgate Tavern until yesterday, which was Saturday. I specifically went around 4:PM for Prime Rib. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at both the portion and quality of the Prime Rib Dinner… it was cooked perfectly for me, because I like it Medium Rare. For the price, it’s really a value too! I will definitely plan on going back again, because the menu has lots of things I’d like to try. I would highly recommend this establishment to family and friends.

Stopped in for lunch. Greek Salad w/ Chicken was a special…had to have it. It was awesome! Healthy leafy greens rather than iceberg, true kalamata olives (pitted too), perfectly cooked chicken, and cherry tomatoes cut in half for easy forking. Delicious, will order again. Plenty of TVs in an inviting atmosphere. The bartender Alex was very friendly as well.

This pub was excellent!! Great menu with many local food options as well as traditional fair and a cool atmosphere. Very clean and well-lit. Our server was fast, friendly, and attentive, and the food was SO good! My son and I split an appetizer of hot pretzel bites with a mustard and horseradish sauce on the side – both were great. I had the baked haddock dinner with rice pilaf and seasoned mixed vegetables of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots (pictured) that was amazing. Very fresh fish cooked perfectly with lemon and panko breadcrumbs – really tasty!! My son had a giant Reuben on marble rye with pub fries that he loved and we split a hot brownie sundae that was incredible. He had 2 local brews and I had 2 Irish coffees, so the bill was very reasonable when it came for all that we had. I definitely will go back the next time that I’m in the area, and I absolutely recommend this place when you’re looking for a really great local bar.

Great food, great service and great prices! I love going to Tailgate with friends for a beer or family for a yummy meal. It’s very clean (including the bathroom), the environment is casual, not too dark and plenty of extra room. The bar is great. Buffalo chicken mac & cheese is delicious!
