We had a wonderful dining experience at Alpine Hall during our visit to Spruce Peak, and it was the perfect way to end a winter day in Stowe. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated for the holidays, with a warm lodge-style atmosphere, cozy seating nooks, glowing fireplaces, and a stunning Christmas tree that immediately sets a relaxed and inviting tone.

We started with the focaccia bread and butter, which was light, fluffy, and incredibly flavorful—so good that it disappeared quickly. For our mains, we ordered steak, chicken, French onion soup, and calamari. The steak was cooked perfectly and came with creamy mashed potatoes that were excellent. The French onion soup was rich and comforting, ideal after a cold day outdoors. The chicken was well-prepared, and even our child enjoyed it—especially noteworthy since he also ate the vegetables, which rarely happens.

The calamari was a bit over-fried for our taste and ended up being the only dish we didn’t finish, but everything else more than made up for it.

One small but memorable highlight was how accommodating the restaurant was for our child—he loved having a little “collection” of drinks at the table, including sparkling water and ginger ale, which made the experience extra fun for him and stress-free for us.

Overall, Alpine Hall delivers a cozy alpine ambiance, solid food, and a relaxed family-friendly experience. It’s an excellent spot to unwind, warm up, and enjoy a comforting meal while soaking in the charm of Spruce Peak.

We’d happily return on our next visit to Stowe provided the service becomes better .

We had an incredible time at Alpine Hall. We were two and did not have reservations, but they were able to squeeze us in. The focaccia and the duck frites were very yummy. I think I got too full from the appetizers. I did not really get to enjoy my actual main course but it’s OK. I’ll definitely eat less appetizers next time. The server was so nice and he got us hot chocolate to go. He also let us borrow a highchair for our stuffed animal that we did not want to hold onto while we’re eating.

I have never had service so poor that it affected my meal so much. Our main problem was that they served the appetizer, salads and main courses within 5 minutes of each other. We hadn’t finished our appetizers when the salad arrived. Hadn’t even started on the salad when the main course arrived (still working on the appetizers). There was no room on our table of 2 for so many dishes, so they slid over a 4 person table and we ended up being 2 people at a 6 person table. Needless to say, our main courses were cold by the time we finished the appetizers and cold mashed potatoes and steak were just bad. And this wasn’t because the restaurant was full; there was only one other table occupied, so you can’t blame the kitchen on being overwhelmed or distracted.

The poor service wasn’t just the server. The hostess at the front of the restaurant was on her phone drinking a tea when we arrived. She was dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt so we weren’t even sure she was the hostess. But she was and she looked very disinterested in seating us. Absolutely no pleasantries or smile.

And at the end of the evening we told the server we would be charging by the meal to the room. She brought us a bill but no pen to sign. And then she disappeared and we had to wait another 5 minutes to ask for a pen.

Sometimes I read restaurant reviews and skip over the ones that complain about service because I think how bad can it be? It won’t affect my meal. Well, the poor service here was so bad it did affect my meal and wanted to make sure others, including the restaurant are aware of it.

Alpine Hall – Restaurant at Spruce Mt Lodge

Very nice restaurant, conveniently located within the resort. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service throughout our visit was attentive and professional.

The menu looked interesting and promising; however, the food unfortunately did not live up to expectations. We ordered two different soups, both of which tasted as though plain boiling water had been added — they were completely lacking in flavor. The burrata and squash salad was beautifully presented, but again, the taste simply wasn’t there.

The only decent dish served was from the kids’ menu.

We politely expressed our concerns to our host, who kindly removed the French onion soup from our bill — a thoughtful gesture, as it was particularly disappointing.

For such a nice ski resort with a captive clientele, it’s unacceptable to have a kitchen that delivers food of this quality. We truly hope this improves, as the setting and service deserve much better.

Amazing food, very nice restaurant
Updating: I came again and what a disappointment
The trout was just ok but the worse was the server, she simply disappeared and did not come anymore to check on anyone, plus the lady who brings food to the table put my plate almost falling and the empty plate she left.
If this were my 1st time I’d never be back

A few weeks ago, my mom and I took a trip to Vermont. The trip had been planned for months, but when it came, it was a welcome escape from Hurricane Helene, which impacted my city. Our server was Catherine and she was amazing. She asked where we were from and showed the most kindness and empathy after learning it was upstate South Carolina. Apart from the hospitality, the food was so delicious and the atmosphere was top tier. The perfect medium rare ribeye. From even the valet boys, the servers, the management (who showed kindness after realizing I was from South Carolina), the food, the location; it was all the best experience and I would give 10 stars if I could. Spruce Peak Lodge is beautiful. When we go back to Vermont, we will definitely be dining here.

I ordered the nightly special offered every evening. 3 courses and you have choices. I had the Bibb lettuce salad, the steak and frites, and the chocolate cake. So delicious! Each course was exceptional.

Emily was fantastic her attentiveness , helpfulness , knowledge of the menu , her friendly positive attitude made our dining experience exceptional. We got escargot and pumpkin soup to start off with which was absolutely delicious. As entrees we got the spruce burger, the pork chops , and the short ribs which was all absolutely delicious with perfect balance of flavors and textures. Ended it with the chocolate cake which was rich , luxurious , and indulgent. Highly recommend the fabulous establishment.

Alpine Hall is a gorgeous upscale restaurant worthy of dining at several times during our stay in Stowe Vermont! The food was very good! The calamari is a great starter! I really enjoyed sharing the mushroom pasta and steak frites. Their bar is divine, and their cocktails are on point! Excellent service, too! We were fortunate to get a table without a reservation. I thoroughly enjoyed our meal from start to finish!

Truly loved the vibe of this place. The food and cocktails were amazing. I felt bad though because though it took awhile to get our drinks orders a few times we felt it was NOT the server’s fault and that overall they were a little understaffed. She still did a great job trying to manage so many tables. Everyone was wonderful and chef even brought out our entrees to us. Reservations highly recommended and valet is included with dinner.
