Everything was simply perfect. Lots of creativity put in the dishes and the flavours were special. We enjoyed a lot our lunch and will come back. Cerise sur le gateau… Great view over the valley and the service was very friendly.

Wow. This place in a remote corner of the valley of Villé is a hidden gem. Located at the highest place of the little town of Steige, you can enjoy a wonderful view over the forest and mountains.

The place itself looks like a “ferme”, but is very carefully redesigned. It feels warm and cozy, with a fireplace, but also a little bit upscale. The house has a nice terrace where you can enjoy an appetizer before dinner.

The staff is unbelievable friendly. We were greeted very warm-heartedly. The service is very attentive, but discrete at the same time. Our french is very bad, but we were able to communicate just fine.

The wine list is not too big, but includes a lot of good wines. You can also get a corresponding wine pairing, which we did not try.

The food is amazing. As we both do not eat meat, we asked the chef if we could have the 8 course menu without meat. This was not a problem. We got 3 vegetarian courses and 2 with fish, 1 cheese course and 2 desserts. Everything was perfect. The fish was cooked to perfection and smoked in the kitchen. The taste was unbelievable. I also liked that a lot of the herbs that were used, corresponded with the area around the restaurant, like the sorrel. Even the dessert was something special. The pre dessert featured a beer ice cream and the second desert included asparagus ice cream. Creative and delicious.

We will definitely come back soon.

Yannick Guth is a master chef. Come for his incredible creativity and innovation and leave with fond memories of an amazing evening, hooting geese, gracious service and stunning views. He is doing a great deal to raise the already high standard of cuisine in Alsace. Beyond being a great chef he is generous with his advice and introduced me to to the incredibly wonderful La Petite Auberge. Merci Yannick!
