Surprisingly vegetarian friendly. Their veggies and beans are not cooked with lard, hamhock, etc.; this is a refreshing change from most Southern-style restaurants. The caesar salad had crisp, fresh romaine and very good dressing. My dining partner ordered the daily special, which was beans, turnip green, corn cakes, fresh tomato slices, and chicken and dumplings. He said the dumplings were tender and clearly homemade. The portion sizes are huge. Don’t miss out on the made-from-scratch coon hunters cake.

Located in an old house, you are seated in one of the original rooms on the ground floor. The atmosphere is very homey, a good match for the style of food. The service is super friendly and you’ll likely want for nothing as the staff breeze by every couple of minutes. The food is prepared in the tiny old kitchen and you can peek through the door to see what’s going on. I highly recommend the moist and delicious coon hunter’s cake (made with pineapple, not raccoon).

Had a spectacular lunch with friends from California, ordered Fried Green Tomatoes, and a Chocolate Cake for a private party … everything was delicious! The hospitality is first-class Southern style and a wonderful family venue. We are going definitely going back! Thank you!

Wow! What a great hole in the wall restaurant, walking distance from the distillery. They have their staple menu options (chicken sandwich, fried bologne sandwich, etc) and then a ‘daily meat’ option with 2 veggies. Avg meal cost ~$8! And they have great fried green tomatoes 🙂
