High Street Caffe

Social Profile:

In 1996, Proprietor Donny Syracuse was fresh off the tour bus and traveled around the world playing with “Arcade” (Ratt and Cinderella) opening for Bon Jovi. Wenner was then a sauté chef at another favorite dining spot, The New Orleans Café in Ridley. The pairing of this duo created a blend of Creole cuisine and rock and roll that further shaped the Purple-infused Caffe. It is not uncommon to find a tour bus outside the Caffe. Such guests as Ratt, Cinderella, G Love & Special Sauce, Poison, Dokken, and the Black Crowes have been known to pop in and party with the High Street crew. You can feel the vibe of High Street as soon as you walk in.

This funky stop serves a Cajun-Creole menu with exotic twists (wild boar, alligator) & weekend jazz.

My husband and I recently went for date night. We didn’t have a reservation but they were able to squeeze us in. Would recommend reservations in the future.
Food was good and arrived quickly. We had blackened alligator as an appetizer which was good. It was a bit of a small portion but that was fine to save room for our meals. I had the blackened chicken, shrimp and scallops and it was fantastic. My husband got the Bourbon cashew chicken and shrimp Orleans. It was also yummy. Overall, great experience and would come back.

This BYOB Cajun restaurant is a gem. The blackened shrimp, chicken, and scallops over dirty rice was delicious—intense flavor all around. Coming in a close second was the blackened red snapper over shrimp jambalaya. The jambalaya is gluten free naturally—a win for those with a gluten allergy. Bring a bottle of Malbec to enjoy your meal and you’ve got a perfect way to end the day.

Delicious food, great ambiance, lovely service! A very unique spot with items you won’t find anywhere else. I tried the seafood jambalaya, lobster ravioli with shrimp, pork dumplings, and bread pudding. I would highly recommend all of the above! Seriously good food with such unique flavors to make familiar dishes new. We will be back soon!

The staff at High Street were attentive and charming and made us feel very welcome. No pressure for food choices so we ordered a few Cajun staples and a lister ravioli. Everything was delicious and full of flavor! Haven’t had Cajun since visiting Texas and this was spot on!

High Street is practically an institution at this point. Their food always hits, and this time was no exception. We started our meal with the blackened chicken tenders and the alligator sausage appetizers, followed by the jerk tacos and the Fra Diablo seafood fettuccine. Delicious!

Have been coming here for years, always the best!
From the owner Don and his wife Monica, to the food, ambiance and service…we can’t help but come back! Last night on Fat Tuesday was our third time in a month. Never change guys, keep up the great work!

This was a tough one because, after the amazing food and simply outstanding service by Julia our waitress, I had to reserve a star for two reasons; The cocky non-grateful attitude of the owner when I attempted to compliment him on his restaurant and the prices of the dishes. I really don’t care though how closely authentic the food was. It was good enough for me as a northerner trying out something new and the flavors of the plates were positively sensational. Anyone giving a negative review on here for flavorless food must be a smoker or had a cold when they came because there is no doubt of the richness and combination of flavors of each of our four meals that will cause us to return again. I just hope that when we do I’ll have a better interaction with the owner who shows that he appreciates his customers.

My daughter and I visited High Street Cafe for the first time last night and we were absolutely blown away. Everything we had was absolutely phenominal.
We started with the blackened alligator. Small portion, but oh my goodness, was it amazing! I had the beet salad. It was huge! Also, soooo good. My daughter had the lobster ravioli with scallops and I had one of the evening specials which was blackened carfish over jambalaya. When I tell you that was, hands down, the BEST jambalaya I’ve ever had….
The ravioli was amazing and the sauce…..LORT.
We finished our meal with the creme brulee. It was a large portion…big enough for us to share and also one of the best I’ve had. Service was impeccable as well. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back until we’ve tried everything on the menu.
Also, the place is decorated so beautifully. I’ve been to New Orleans a few times, and really enjoyed the decor.
I cannot stress how amazing this place is. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.

We had a delicious lunch at High Street today! As always the food was amazing!!! The service was friendly and quick and again the food was fabulous. While we chose to spend a bit more, due to celebrating our anniversary, one could easily have lunch for a modest price. We had mentioned our special day and when the bananas foster (YUM!!!) came out for our dessert, we were very touched to see the extra flair they added to it. If you’ve never been, or it’s been a while – go! You’ll be really happy you did!
