Reviews
Italian food is my favorite cuisine ever and I think I just found my new favorite Italian restaurant. I will definitely be returning and recommending friends to come here as well.
We went to Jasper Stone in mid november with excitement to try based on multiple recommendations.
Bread service was immaculate and we were off to a good start.
Our waiter was impressive in his initial menu presentation and could tell they were passionate about their menu.
We ordered the Bao Buns as an appetizer, very tasty. Still off to good start.
Our next course was the cowboy ribeye, Bearnaise, Horseradish Creme Fraiche, lobster gnocchi & crispy potatoes.
Unfortunately our cowboy ribeye was a tough cut, it was cooked to our specification of medium rare but was extremely tough to cut & chew. We brought this to our waiter’s attention and he promptly brought the owner over and he agreed it may have been a bad cut and made things right with us by offering a new steak, in which we opted for the Filet instead which was great (sadly no picture).
The Lobster Gnocchi left room for improvement and unfortunately we weren’t impressed by the Bernaise.
The restaurant atmosphere was very loud & difficult to hold a conversation. That all being said the level of service was outstanding and the owner’s other restaurant in Old Bridge, Crave Cafe is OUTSTANDING.
I’d still recommend Jasper Stone, if you look at the other places I reviewed, we had an average experience in comparison.
For mains, Bucatini Carbonara was decent but slightly bitter. The Cacio e pepe was outstanding — easily one of the best we’ve had. Crab-crusted halibut was full of flavor.
Dessert — the flourless almond cake is a must. Amazing vibe and really great service. Would definitely go back.
My boyfriend Jonathan and I went to Jasper Stone last night for our anniversary and we had such an incredible experience. From the moment we sat down, everything started strong — the octopus, fresh mozzarella, and steak tartare appetizers were phenomenal, and even the bread they give you is unreal… warm, soft, and the cheese in the center is chef’s kiss.
The ambiance was perfect for a Monday night — quiet, romantic, moody, and beautifully decorated. We ordered the porterhouse and it came out a bit over cooked for our preference. We felt bad sending it back, but the owner, Kimmy, could not have been more gracious. He apologized up and down, personally made us a brand new steak cooked EXACTLY how we wanted it, brought it out himself, made sure we were 100% happy, and stayed to chat with us. He was so kind, genuine, and personal — we really appreciated that level of care.
And THEN… he surprised us with FOUR desserts on the house!!! Beyond generous. We’re still full the next day. Every single dessert was delicious and homemade in-house — the NY cheesecake, tiramisu, bread pudding, and sticky toffee pudding. I think my favorites were the NY cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding but truly, all SO good.
Overall, one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. The food was amazing, the service was exceptional, and Kimmy went above and beyond to make us feel special.
Highly recommend — we will definitely be back! ✨
The experience was superb from start to finish. The décor was beautiful, the service excellent and the food exceptional.
This is definitely a restaurant where the appetizers, the steaks, the sides and the desserts are meant to be shared. And, cleverly, it’s BYOB.
Our appetizer was the charred octopus with crispy potato. The octopus was tender, cut in large juicy pieces with a wonderful sauce that we happily mopped up with the house rolls. The potatoes were perfectly crispy outside and full of flavor. Next time we’ll have to order them as a side dish.
Our niece had the cowboy rib eye which was perfectly prepared to her chosen temperature and brought to the table sliced thick with the bone. She enjoyed it thoroughly and had the leftovers for dinner the next two nights.
My husband and I treated ourselves to the Wagyu Porterhouse, a special that evening. It was a perfect medium rare, barely needed a knife to cut it, melted in our mouths and exploded with flavor. We brought home dinner for the next night.
For the sides we shared the artichokes francaise and the mashed potato with Gruyere and Comte. The cheese was poured over the top and our waitress, Nicole, mixed it into the potato at the table. It was rich but absolutely light as a feather. The artichokes were tender and beautifully lemony.
For dessert we shared the Pistachio cake with Dacquios, Mousse & Gelato and the Tiramisu which was beautiful presented to the birthday girl with a candle and Happy Birthday written on the dish. No fuss and no embarrassing rendition of the birthday song…thankfully.
We read certain reviews where people complained about the cost. You will not hear that from us. This food is absolutely meant to be shared. No one can eat these portions by themselves and claim to feel comfortable afterward. We happily brought food home and enjoyed it again the next day.
There is a two hour table limit, but we were never rushed. Nicole was carefully to allow us time to relax and was very aware of when to bring out the next course. A true professional.
We will be back because there are other dishes we look forward to trying and we’ll be sure to ask for Nicole as our wait person. We’re very pleased that Jasper Stone has made it’s home in Monroe.
