Unfortunately, the service has consistently been disappointing. When we sit down, the husband is often sitting at the bar like it’s his living room. There’s no greeting, no acknowledgment, no “hello.” In a small town especially, customer service is extremely important. Making guests feel welcome goes a long way.
It’s frustrating because years ago, when it was Wild Side next door, you couldn’t even find an open seat. Now the place is empty most nights, and sadly, the lack of attentive service seems to be a big part of that.
There have been multiple occasions where we needed drink refills, and even when the husband stepped behind the bar, he didn’t ask if anyone needed anything. At one point, his boys were sitting at the bar and he was very engaged and cheerful with them, while the rest of the restaurant was largely ignored. That kind of selective attention doesn’t make paying customers feel valued.
We truly want local businesses to succeed, but hospitality matters. A warm greeting, basic attentiveness, and simple things like checking on refills make a big difference. Also, please consider turning the heat up — comfort matters too.
Menu Highlights:
Famous Cubano sandwich with pulled pork, pickles, and mustard.
Comfort classics like savory turkey sandwiches, hearty soups, and crispy fries.
Special diets accommodated with ease.
Experience: Cozy atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re dining with old friends, perfect for afternoon lunches or casual family dinners.
The staff, akin to courtly minstrels, navigate the dining hall with balletic grace, ensuring each patron is attended to with a touch of old-world charm. The service is as much a part of the experience as the delectable dishes, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era.
Embarking on a gastronomic journey is akin to stepping into a Renaissance painting—each bite, a stroke of culinary artistry. This establishment beckons those seeking a respite from the ordinary, promising an immersive experience where flavors and ambiance intertwine seamlessly.
With much delight, it is highly recommended!!!
It was tremendous and for $10, let’s just say it was fabulous.
The pulled pork, the pickles, the mustard, wow. Just wow.
Bonus! They serve Busch Light in the bottle! Hi-yo!
They serve local liquor from Kevin Suttman’s 7 Brothers Gin, Vodka and Whiskey.
Located in the heart of the county seat of Ashtabula County Jefferson, beautiful decor, they love bees and cows, can’t say enough.
Except, try it for yourself.
Promise, no disappointments here.
Family business and the owner’s daughter, Megan, was our server and host.
Gracious, accommodating, felt at home.
