To start, it took 20 minutes just to be served water, even after I got up to notify the hostess. Her response was that we had a “big party,” which shouldn’t be an excuse for lack of basic service.
When rolls finally arrived, they were rock hard, as if they had been sitting out for days. The starters came out cold, with some members of our table having to send theirs back. The entrées weren’t much better. The turkey dinner had a tiny portion of cold mashed potatoes, and those who ordered the beef received it completely cold as well. One person sent theirs back, but the waitresses attitude changed when they send back their starter and their entree back because it was cold, so others didn’t feel comfortable. The turkey dinner consisted of room temp turkey, cold mashed potatos, stuffing with some sort of odd flavor/burnt, and the cranberry sauce, which was absolutely disgusting.
For the children’s menu, the listed options included a starter plus a choice of mac and cheese, chicken tenders, or turkey. Since my six-year-old obviously wasn’t going to eat stuffed mushrooms, kale salad, or soup, we asked if she could have mac and cheese instead of the starter, and were told yes. However, when the bill came, we were charged an extra $5 because they considered it a “second entrée.” Her entire $36 kids meal ,now $41 consisted of three chicken tenders over fries, a small portion of mac and cheese, and no drink offered. She drank water out of a mug. She wanted juice l, but the options were cranberry, grapefruit or pineapple, all in which young children don’t drink. no one offered any kids’ activities—we luckily brought our own coloring book.
Dessert was also disappointing. Most of us ordered the apple pie, only to be told a few minutes later that only two slices were left. The apple pie was stone cold as well and had icing drizzled all over it. Again, we don’t have a problem paying a 5 star price for dinner, but for the dessert, I would have expected warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream. The desserts that did come out had melted whipped cream and didn’t taste remotely homemade—surprising and underwhelming for a restaurant positioned as high-end.
Service overall was mediocre. No one offered refills, staff rarely checked in, and if we wanted to take leftovers home, we had to package everything ourselves. Some of the staff struggled to communicate in English, which made things more confusing.
Between the $88 per-plate cost, the automatic 20% gratuity/service fee, and the low quality of food and service, the evening felt extremely overpriced and disappointing—especially on a holiday when you hope for a warm, enjoyable experience.
The only enjoyable part of this evening was the piano player- who came to our table to say hello.
I could go on and on about our evening- it was definitely the talk of the rest of this evening and made this years thanksgiving one to remember, and not in a good way.
