My wife and I went to Mambos Seafood expecting a nice seafood dinner and instead had one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. For the amount of the meal we expect better quality/cleanliness.

As soon as we walked in, we were hit with an unpleasant smell—honestly reminiscent of a fast-food play area—which immediately made us ask to be seated outside. Unfortunately, things didn’t improve from there.
We ordered a shrimp cocktail and were shocked to see that none of the shrimp were deveined. We also ordered the number 4, which again came with shrimp that were not deveined. Having to pick around that just to eat was completely unacceptable and ruined the meal.

On top of the food issues, the service was painfully slow. We waited an absurd amount of time just to receive our drinks, which only added to the frustration. To make matters worse, when I asked for a to-go box for leftovers (intended for stray animals), the waitress handed me a box with a roach inside it. I showed it to her, and all she said was, “I’ll get another one for you,” as if that were normal or acceptable.

Overall, the experience was terrible from start to finish. We will never be returning and absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone.

I ordered some lunch for a family get together and was very impressed. The shrimp breading was super savory, as was the fish. Of course I had to get their rice which was the star of the show! It’s why I keep coming back.

On 2/28, my family and I had a horrible experience at Mambos. We are regular customers, but the way this situation was handled made sure we will never return.
I almost didn’t post this, but I hope this feedback helps the company improve. Otherwise, I foresee them continuing to lose loyal customers.

We came in as a party of five and ordered oysters (half prepped, half not prepped), then later placed our main dishes. After 20 to 30 minutes, the main dishes arrived except for mine (a soup). A different waitress brought the food, and when we told her a dish was missing, she said she would check on it. She never returned with an update. At that point, we also had no silverware at the table. No one checked on us. My wife finally had to ask an employee who was sweeping for silverware. He called it in on his earpiece, but it still took another 5 to 7 minutes for silverware to arrive so everyone else could start eating.

When our waitress finally came to check on us, I told her our starters never arrived and asked her to cancel them. They must have already been prepared because she immediately brought them to the table after canceling that order. I told her we didn’t want them and to please take them back. She insisted we wouldn’t be charged, but that wasn’t the point. She continued to push them on us which was even more frustrating until my wife finally said “just leave them we don’t have to eat them”.
We explained to her the issues: the missing dish, the delayed starters, the lack of silverware, and the lack of customer service. While she did apologize, there were multiple excuses including blaming it on the hostess’s as its there responsibility to bring silverware. We understand mistakes happen we’re all human. But what really stood out was how poorly everything was handled. There was no sense of urgency, ownership, or care. That’s what ultimately made this experience so disappointing.

I came to Mambo Seafood for some late night bites. Service is just ok. I know those waitresses are tired at that time. Some had hard time smiling. I could understand that. There is always a lot going on. I always get my usual fish soup the way I like it.

For the taste I would give them a 6 out of 10! I got to different name seafood restaurants and and and it’s 10 out of 10. We order 4 different plates and it wasn’t great, we did eat because we waited more than 43 minutes to get our food served and we were hungry but we won’t go back. Yes we did leave tip, The only thing it’s was great was the 2 micheladas.

I love the special fried rice and on Tuesday I get it for half price. I eat that rice two times when I order it, it’s that much. Big portion size and for the price you can’t beat it. Join the online club to get the discount. You won’t regret it!

The food was amazing ! Really Hispanic scene so very lively , they had a wide selection of drinks as well . I had the Volver a vivir dish with rice and it was *chefs kiss* my friend had the fish tacos , it could have used more meat but over all great food and portions.

Stopped by here tonight on my first trip to the big H. I am stunned and amazed by the culinary options that Houston has to offer. Especially Mambo Seafood. Their rice was amazing, incredible flavor. The fried shrimp was mouth watering. Despite not being from this area, the staff was very welcoming and made me feel at home. They answered all my questions and had incredible service. I would definitely come back here again!!

The last time I ordered take out was like a year ago. I had pretty good impression towards Mambo. Their fried rice is tasty with a large portion. Their stuffed jalapenos are also good. Although the waitress was very friendly and nice yet they were hard to find when we needed something. The oyster price is $5.25 for three, which is not bad. However, they are small and somehow mushy. While I was still eating I felt my tongue was swollen and it lasted for a day.

Me and my daughter got sick for almost 3 weeks and my wife did not want to eat from the place had change of what she wanted to eat which glad she did. Me and daughter were vomiting and diarrhea none stop right after eating at this place. Never coming back to this place, plus service is terrible when you call or are there, they never know about there own promotions. Please advise take your family any where else but this place, would hate to see any one else go through what me and my daughter went threw. The good reviews not sure where they come from for tried multiple times calling and always terrible service. Never again, take care and be safe.
