Bayleaf India in Somerset offers an exceptional dining experience for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality Indian vegetarian food in a welcoming setting. From the moment we walked in, the service stood out—attentive, polite, and genuinely warm. The staff made us feel comfortable right away, happy to explain dishes and accommodate our preferences without hesitation.

The menu had a wide variety of vegetarian options, each one thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was rich in flavour, well-balanced in spice, and made with clear attention to detail. The paneer dishes were a particular highlight—soft, fresh, and perfectly cooked in aromatic gravies. The dals were comforting and hearty, and the breads were hot and fresh from the tandoor, with just the right amount of crisp and softness.

The ambiance added to the overall experience. The restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated, with a calm, relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to enjoy the meal. Despite being busy, the staff remained attentive and the food arrived in good time.

What set Bayleaf India apart was the consistency—every element, from food to service, felt intentional and cared for. It’s clear the team takes pride in delivering an experience that goes beyond just the meal. We left feeling satisfied and appreciated, which is rare to say these days.

This is not just a place to eat—it’s a place to enjoy good hospitality and authentic Indian food done right. For anyone looking for quality vegetarian food in Somerset, Bayleaf India is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be returning.

Ordered Chicken Pathia reduced ghee and Keema Naan with garlic and coriander

The dish had excessive Oil/ ghee
There was little to no flavour you would expect from a Pathia
This dish should be hot/ sour/ sweet/ under tones of Tamarind.
Definitely lacking in layers of flavour

The chicken overcooked and obviously precooked and reheated, tough and stringy having NO flavour and disappointing …

Gravy/ masala had some texture from the coarsely chopped onions, again flavourless….
Naan bread was disappointing, very little Keema meat but cooked okay with no dough uncooked
Service is okay limited understanding and the hygiene is to be questioned, make your own judgement….

I’m sorry but I’m afraid I’m not going to be returning

Cheeky little Jalfrazi Chicken Tikka & a Garlic Chilli Chicken with Special fried rice & Peshawari Naan takeaway for tea tonight.
Both dishes had plenty of superbly cooked pieces of chunky chicken in a very flavourful & fragrant sauces. The fried rice was great & the naan also with a lovely coconut & almond taste, everything cooked fresh to go.
Great value for money as we got plenty of leftovers so definitely recommend

Had a takeaway when we were on holiday. Staff were fabulous. The lady chatted when I was waiting for the meal. The food was lovely especially the starter alloo chat puri. When we come again I’ll be back

Phoned through a takeaway for 11 people on New Year’s Eve. Drove down to pick it up and was offered a free cobra beer whilst we waited. Very hospitable and polite staff…. everyones food was excellent and we would highly recommend eating in or ordering a takeaway from here!

Absolutely the best and my personal favourite Indian takeaway in Bude and easily the best I’ve had anywhere. Such kind owners and amazing food. Always so polite and thankful of anyone being a customer.

Visited this place today with my husband, asked if they were halal. The man came from behind the counter and after a long hesitant pause said yes, but then said to go around the corner as ‘that’s the place for you’.
As we walked out, he said in Bengali ‘that guy come in with a white girl asking if it’s halal’ and laughed. My husband is Bengali so understood what he said, so we asked this man why did he say that and he then lied and said he didn’t. After that he said no white person asks for halal and apologised.
I would not recommend eating here, this made me feel discriminated against as a white person and a Muslim. I went to mirchi instead, much nicer people.

Fantastic vegan options and friendly helpful staff.

We got take away and the staff where extremely knowledgeable about dietary preferences and where willing to answer our questions.

The food was hot and very tasty. The portion size was just right. We particularly liked the samosas which where we’ll spiced and the vegan korma.

Fantastic and delicious dinner. My partner and I paid just over £40 for the two of us to have a full dinner and it was the perfect amount of food. Menu is clear and easy to read, and some good choices on the drink menu. Excited to see they offer paneer as a meat alternative in the curries.
