I’ve been to Margaritaville CityWalk several times over the years — including visits 10 years ago, 5 years ago, and twice this week. After visiting other Margaritaville locations recently, I actually recommended this one to quite a few people… unfortunately, not anymore.

Prices have clearly gone up, but portions and drink quality have gone the opposite way. Earlier in the week I ordered the Volcano of Nachos, which is now missing at least a third of its original size.

Today we came back mainly for the food and live music. I’d requested inside seating and was placed right in front of the band, which was great — the band themselves were very good.

Drink service, however, was a mess. I ordered a cocktail flight (to sample rather than choose one) and two Bud Lights for the two of us. The server then came back to say we weren’t allowed to have the cocktails and beers on the table at the same time, which was odd.

The cocktail flight ($23 pre-tax) arrived first. None of the cocktails tasted like they had any alcohol in them, and they were extremely watery — as if they’d been sitting on dispense for a while. I had to stir them just to get any flavour.

We then waited another 20 minutes for the beers. One arrived with a visible lipstick mark on the glass. With no server around, I went to the bar myself — to be fair, the bartender was friendly and swapped it immediately. Unfortunately, both beers tasted of chemicals and soda. I still finished them.

The bill came to around $45. I left a $5 tip and did mention the issues to the server, but there was no real response or concern.

Overall, this location has gone downhill compared to previous years. Rising prices, shrinking portions, poor drink quality, and inconsistent service mean I won’t be recommending Margaritaville CityWalk anymore — which is a shame given how it used to be.

My family and I are huge, generational Jimmy Buffett fans. As tourists, we’ve visited this CityWalk location several times over the last 30 years, and I’ve even stayed at the Margaritaville resort in Mexico (which is a 10/10, highly recommend). During this family dinner, a few things stood out. We sat in the main dining area and honestly regretted it; while the live band was great—playing a mix of Jimmy’s songs, originals, and covers—the volume was just too much for a dinner conversation. Next time, we’ll sit upstairs or outside for a better “chill beach vibe.” The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The “Volcano Nachos” are massive and delicious, but don’t bother ordering them unless you have at least four people! We also had the soup of the day and some great cocktails. The coconut shrimp were incredible, but the peel-and-eat shrimp were a disappointment. For the price point, they were very dirty and we had to scrape them at the table, which was messy. They also arrived cold, which was off-putting, though the sauces were perfect. The service, however, was friendly and amazing throughout!

I don’t like harsh reviews but the food here was terrible, although the service was really great. Xavier was our server and he was wonderful, and we were also able to get balloons from the man on stilts and he was also very energetic and entertaining. The atmosphere of this restaurant is great and it has good vibes although the food is severely lacking.

Food:
The food was no better than frozen items slapped together to make a dish. We ordered the pretzel which was just alright, the pineapple chimichurri chicken which was just alright, then a taco salad with chicken which was absolutely terrible. It was drowning in dressing, smothered in cheese, the guacamole tasted like it was the yucky store bought with a chemical taste, and the chicken I would not feed that to my dog. It was just terrible.

Price:
For 2 people we ordered: 1 mocktail, the pretzel appetizer, 1 salad, 1 entree…. With tip this dinner cost us $95. That would be reasonable if the food was enjoyable which it was not.

Overall:
The margaritaville concept is great and the design is amazing but the food at this location is severely lacking.

We spend a lot of time at Universal’s City Walk because of work, and when asked about my favorite lunch preference, I easily say Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville. They have an island style menu, but my go-to for years has simply been the club sandwich. I cancel the aioli and get honey mustard on the side. The fries are always great, and I’ve eaten some bad fries in my time. We have been consistently disappointed with the hamburger, however, because medium always comes rare and greasy. One star= Skip it. They play Buffet songs as well as other fun songs you’ll recognize, and the theming and decor is TOP NOTCH. Lots to see with different seating sections inside and out. Our wait staff has always been prompt and friendly. I’m sure it’s less busy at lunch than in the evening, but that’s the case anywhere at City Walk. Check out the nachos/ they are huge!! Bathroom score: 5 stars. It’s always been clean and stocked anytime I was there, with roomy stalls and fun paintings on the walls. Great T-shirt designs are found in the gift shop next door, which hold up through washings. Club sandwich and a T-shirt to take home is a winning lunch combo.

Sarah (if she spells it that way) was awesome. Total pro behind the bar, was amazing to watch her pouring 3 bottles over several cups. She even double checked our song requests before personally taking them to the band. Just the right amount of sass for a server, we had big grins the whole time. Place is kitschy which we love anyway. Volcano nachos are huge but excellent and definitely a good share plate for the bar. Have visited 3 times already and will absolutely come back a 4th.

We had the veg quesadilla and it was good, but unfortunately there weren’t many vegetarian options. The ambience was really nice though, especially with the live music.
Also, I wouldn’t recommend the volcano nachos — the portion size is way too big. We barely saw anyone finish it, and most people left almost 80% of it. We ended up canceling our order because it was too large for even three people.

Great place to eat. Our server was amazing. You can sit outside or inside the bar area. We had the volcano nacho between 2 of us it was massive so make sure you are hungry if you want this. We also tried there Margarita flight so we know which one we want next time we visit because we will definitely be back.

This is located right on Citywalk in Universal. They were steady when we got there, but we were able to sit at the bar with no wait. Menu looked good and prices were average for that environment, but we just had a few drinks. The bartender was amazing. He was attentive, very helpful, personable, and pleasant. This place has good vibes with a Caribbean feeling/decor to it. I would definitely go back.
