Miracle Reason
Stopped by for Taco Tuesday. Great music. Good service. Themed nights (e.g. karaoke, ladies night) and happy hour. They also have a good rewards system, earned $6 off next visit. Even though I’m not local, I’d return for those reasons. The food was just okay.

Jerk chicken tacos- 3/5 small. Chicken moist but lacked flavor. Needed a sauce, got some jerk on the side which helped.

Mac and cheese- 4/5 creamy, cheesy cooked well. Solid mac. Could use a little flavor, like there’s salt but no body if that makes sense.

Virgin mojito 3/5 okay, everyone makes them different. But $8 for whats essentially gingerale with lime & mint is on the expensive side. (Usually pay $4-5).

Rum cake- 1/5. Ordered to go. Not good or worth $12 for this slice. But honestly I should have known when I was told the fried oreos were better. Rum cake is essentially just an infused pound cake, but I honestly I can’t tell you what this tasted like. The sauce gives Nutella and the cake was crumbly as you can see. I honestly am so upset I didn’t not look at it before I left.

First time at Lydia on H St thanks and I have to say, the food was good, the service was better. Jay was incredibly attentive, offering great recommendations and was genuinely kind and respectful throughout my visit.

The beef patty might be the best one I’ve ever had, hands down! The jollof rice was flavorful, abeit slightly hard. The Frozen Piña Colada was on point. Loved the great music and ambience.

Jay’s service made this visit memorable. Highly recommend and will be back.

Went here for a night out with friends and had an amazing time! The atmosphere was electric, great vibes, great music, and even better food. I ordered the oxtail dinner, and wow… it was absolutely fantastic. Not a single grain of rice was left on my plate. My friends went for the pasta, and they couldn’t stop raving about it. We all left full, happy, and already talking about when we’re coming back. Highly recommend! Lastly I’ve been to a lot of restaurants this restaurant fills your glass all the time that was very, very impressive!

I visited the place yesterday, and it was a great experience. Eric, our server, was on point from the moment we arrived. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the evening.

The oxtail dinner was served warm and was simply the best. The food, service, and overall atmosphere made our night celebration very special. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be coming back again.

I just have to say, this place is a hidden gem! The Atmosphere is a vibe, the food and drinks are good, and the staff gives great service! Iv gone a few times now and each time has been great! Iv gone for Happy Hour, Karaoke, a birthday party! I liked it so much that Iv had a few parties there! Vic who runs the operation (hope I’m spelling it right) is very welcoming and has been very accomadating each and every time! The staff, mannn! I definitely appreciate them. Dwight with the great energy and making sure everybody enjoying themselves, Dominque she was so sweet and attentive with her check ins, and Taylor he’s an all around cool guy watching the perimeter like a hawk though he isn’t security haha and giving a hand where needed! Those 3 alone manned a whole party and was great! Those are the names I know but my experience with everyone there has been great! I appreciate this spot!

Loved it!! This was a true, genuine, Afro-Carribean experience. The food was authentic, the drinks were absolutely superb & the music had you wanting to dance all night! We met the owner, and told him we were here in town on a girls trip. He gave us 2 complimentary shots, and allowed the server to give us a tour of the restaurant. It offers indoor dining, a patio area, & a “speakeasy” style area upstairs. We had 4 drinks each, so our tab ended up being pricey, however, don’t drink as much as us to solve that problem! ‍♀️ it was affordable and delicious This is definitely the perfect spot for a date night or a night out with the girls/fellas. Make this a spot you visit if you’re ever in the DC area!

I came to Lydia’s for my birthday brunch. I was immediately helped as soon as I walked in and sat at a table. I ordered the chicken (jerk) and waffles. The chicken was very tender and flavorful. The waffle was also tasty though maybe waffle could have been a little warmer. The dish i still was happy with. A friend had the pasta. I had a taste and it was sooooo good! That is what a pasta should taste like!! We also got the bottomless mimosas (rum punch and the regular) both were really good. For dessert I got the fried oreo and icecream. While there i met the owner which was really cool and he wished me a happy bday and made the day fun! Atmosphere was laid back, music was playing. Definitely would go back.

The food was absolutely amazing, I had the Oxtails with Cabbage and Jollof rice and Mac and Cheese. The oxtails were slow cooked to perfection and the Cabbage was well seasoned , the Jollof rice was a little spicy (I’m not too big on spice) the Mac and cheese was okay, not the best but not the worst either. I enjoyed our waitress who was super nice and professional, it seems like it turns into and late night happy hour, this place was definitely a vibe.

I was in the mood for Caribbean food and I’m so glad I went to Lydia On H. I got the oxtails. So good! So much food I couldn’t even finish. I loved the atmosphere. The music was 90s and early 2000s R&B which is my fave. The decor is beautiful Black art. Our server, Tameka was awesome. I will definitely be back.
