This is our favorite restaurant in James island. Honestly probably in Charleston. Service is INCREDIBLE. You get your food SO FAST. And they’re huge portions for great prices. Anytime my boo says “let’s do rio chico” I give him the biggest smooch. Take yo girl or bff or yourself here and eat your heart out on the best Mexican food. OOOOF! I could write a novel. Love it here. God bless this place! Protect it at all costs.

Great service and friendly waitress, but the food was kinda bland. If you’re looking for bold, authentic Mexican flavors, this place ain’t it. However, if you like mild salsa and Bud Light, this place might be right up your alley.

Not only has Rio Chico has been solidly consistent with their food, but also the staff has always been on point as well. The menu has all the best classics. Nothing is shy of well done Mexican.
Hasta luego Rio Chico, & gracias por cuidar de nosotros cada vez. ❤️

We’re giving Rio Chico another try after almost a year because we really do enjoy the food. The flavors are great and when everything is right, it’s a place we’re happy to order from.
Unfortunately, our order keeps getting messed up each time we visit. We clearly state what not to include due to an allergy, but it still seems to get overlooked. That’s the most frustrating part, especially when it’s something health-related.
To their credit, the issue was resolved after we spoke with someone at the front, and we do appreciate that they fixed it. However, we don’t want to have to do that every time we order.
We genuinely like this restaurant and want to continue supporting them, we just wish there was more consistency and attention to special requests. If that improves, this would easily be one of our regular go-to spots.

Attentive servers. Great food. Reasonably priced. Kid friendly. Pet friendly (outdoors). I got a Mucho Grande with three chicken burritos, rice & beans…plus, an extra order of rice & beans and you have two more meals to-go. What’s better than that?

Went there for lunch with a group and the food was good. Mostly vegetarians in the group so it is always nice to see a separate vegetarian section in the menu. I ordered two options combo a veggie burrito, bean Tostada and it came with beans in rice. Our server was great, checked on us several times Food came out quickly and was flavorful. The place looks good from inside. It is easy to get in and out of the place. Lots of parking.

This restaurant is good, prices are excellent and service friendly. I live on James Island and don’t eat out much but I’ll be back here. A sit down meal with a tea and tip only cost me about $2 more than chick fil-a does! Try the Fajita Salad. It is yummy.

We had the best time this week celebrating my friend’s 70th birthday at Rio Chico on James Island. They did an amazing job accommodating our party of 26. Everyone remarked on the delicious food and how fast it came out. Antonio and his whole staff went way over and above to make sure everyone had a great time (including singing happy birthday and lighting the cake.) Thank you so much for making our day so memorable!!

My wife and 3 boys “11 and younger” randomly stopped for dinner after driving Holiday Festival of Lights nearby. The food was fresh, and delicious. The staff were attentive and helped with suggestions for us to select. Great place and very happy with the place overall. When we are back in the area Rio Chico will have us stopping by again.

The food was okay, definitely not authentic mexican. The vibes are cute, customer service was okay, no huge complaints but not compliments either. The food presentation was pretty so they had that going but for mexican food it had very little flavor, and for $5/taco we won’t be going back.
