Authentic Szechuan cuisine. Recently found this restaurant while staying in Vancouver, WA. Surprisingly it was so great cooking, somehow much better than crossing river to find one in Portland, Oregon. The service was also the best — the owner sincerely and carefully cooked congee (rice soup) as requested even though it was not on the menu.

Good choice for szechuan food in east Vancouver. Some of the best chow Fun (IMO) on this side of the river.

Pretty typical atmosphere for a strip mall restaurant.

I’ve been reading all the reviews of how good the food is so I decided to try, ughhh not for me was bland broccoli and beef half over cooked, half raw, rice was soggy and meat was tough and some not cooked. I’ll pass after I tried after raving reviews ‍♀️

Once again a last minute decision to get lunch out led us to this place. It gets a good review average. From the outside it’s very unassuming. When we walked in most tables were full and the inside was minimally decorated but not sparse. Only the large round tables didn’t have anyone seated at them. We waited while they cleared and cleaned a table for us.
There’s a monitor screen on the back wall featuring pictures with various entrees in high definition.
We were seated at a booth and given 2 “Togo type menus and a fancy menu with color pictures and item descriptions.
Lots to choose from.
When the server came to take our orders she had a digital tablet with her. This place is with the modern age of wireless digital electronics. Must be popular and successful here.
We chose hot & sour soup and egg rolls to start. Which were both good. I liked the tangy and balanced heat of the soup.
She got the green beans in garlic sauce. They were cooked perfectly and had a nice fresh garlic flavor. She also ordered a fresh fish hot pot. Which comes out in a fancy serving bowl that’s got a flame under it keeping it hot. Plenty of vegetables and fish in there. Very fresh tasting.
I ordered the popular beef & mixed mushrooms. Generous amounts of mushrooms with beef in a savory brown sauce. I enjoyed the earthy quality in that dish. Of course we had 2 sides of white rice. Perfectly cooked.
We left with 2 large and 2 small to-go cartons.
From the minute we walked in, to the minute we left it was busy. People walking in and satisfied people walking out the whole time. A great sign this place is good.
We came in at 12:30 but we did not order from the lunch menu. So all the leftovers we had were because we had ordered from the dinner menu.

I came with a group of work friends. It took a while for us to be catered to, but the waitress was friendly and did not rush us.

They were busy and one of our party members received her food much later than us which wasn’t great.

That aside, the food tasted great. We were there during the lunch period and most of the food was priced around $15.00.

I ordered the Chicken with vegetables and I thought it was great.

For the quantity and flavor of the food I think it was a pleasant experience.

Everything here had great flavor and very generous portions. We travel the country and eat a lot of Sichuan and this one was done exceptionally well. We had a lot of the appetizers and cold dishes: the chongqing noodles, the lamb skewers, the szechuan wontons, the hot&sour cucumbers, the woodear fungus, and the mixed beef with spicy sauce.
I hear the main complaint about this place is the prices, but for the only authentic Szechuan restaurant around I’d say it’s very worth it !!! We can’t wait to come back and try some hotpot and new dishes the next time we’re in town!

Great food, great service.
Our server, Geo, was fantastic. He gave us some really great recommendations.

Flavorful foods. Good amount for the price.
I didn’t really care for Honey walnut shrimp. Was more like an orange chicken flavor. Was really on the sweet side for me.

Squid could be a little fluffier in texture.

Wonton chill oil soup (recommended by Geo) was delicious!!!
Sesame soup (Geo recommended) was delicious!!!!

I would definitely be back again in the future.

This review is for the folks who look up a restaurant and instantly search the reviews for the word “gluten.” I feel you! I have celiac and have been here numerous times over the years. Generally, I’ll react to gluten within 10mins to an hour and I’ve never gotten sick here. That being said, I can’t speak much to their protocols, but I’m always clear that I need the gluten free version of what I’m ordering. Everything is entered on a tablet in front of you, so you can see them searching for / marking the GF specification. Even if 2 of us order the GF & standard version of the same thing, it’s clear that it’s a different meal when it arrives. It’s honestly the only Chinese place in town I’ve been comfortable eating at, even after multiple discussions with servers / owners at other restaurants.

Now, about that food…. It’s fantastic! We’ve got our favorites but everything we’ve tried there has been great. The breaded items are never soggy, the veggies are always fresh and nothing is overly salty. You can tell from the clientele it’s authentic and popular! The service is great, whether you show up with 2 people or 9 (ask me how I know ; ) Obviously I have an affinity for them due to the GF availability, but it’s really one of the best places I’ve been in town.

Very authentic Chinese food. We ordered fried salty shrimp, spicy fish boiling, pork belly stir fried and chicken cold dish. It was about $90. They were ok but it was nice to have an authentic Chinese food this side of the river. I like the fried salty shrimp with shell on. The pork belly was little too thin. The fish was too numb for me but my husband liked it and how soft it was.

Definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in Vancouver. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. We got the fried fish, cucumber salad, personal hotspot with beef and won tons in chili oil.
