So many Mexican restaurants to choose from here in San Jose, CA. Flip a coin so to speak.
Driving in East San Jose in the little Saigon area. Came upon a restaurant I knew as El guenesse. It is now “tacos autlense”.
Stopped and we decided to give it a try. Looked the same. Very clean and tidy restaurant. The test is the food!
Ordered the following!
1. Camarones El diabla
2. Camarones cocktail
3. Tacos grande
a. Carnitas
b. Asada pastor
c. Pollo
Everything was so good. Meats and chicken were juicy to the taste and well spiced.
My only complaint was that the shrimp El diabla was not spicy enough and I needed to add spicy hot salsa for my liking.

We used to live in the neighborhood and loved coming here for tacos. We recently stopped by for lunch and the food is just how we remember. This time I ordered the flautas – they were perfectly crispy and the serving was generous. My husband loved his huevos rancheros. The sauce was so good and tortillas perfectly crispy beneath his eggs. My mom always bring us their caldo de pollo anytime we are under the weather with a side of arroz and it hits the spot. Our service is always great. Their prices cant be beat. Just FYI – it is cash only, (atm inside restaurant) and parking can be tough as it’s a busy shopping center.

Excellent ‘wet style’ burrito (mojado) with ‘al pastor’ meat (& mentioning that the steak (carne asada) also very good here- – ALL quality meat, no grissle) . The food is amazing and portions are very large.
