My first visit to Pho Saigon in Punta Gorda today left me wanting more and more. I will go back ASAP to try the Vermicelli with Beef n Shrimp or the Pho Wonton. Today on my first visit I played it safe ordering 2 appetizers, the wontons (pork n beef) and a Vietnanese soup {it was lunch}. I went with 2 lovely ladies who had been before. Both ordered the Vermicelli bowls. I was able to sample and they were delicious. The vegetables were fresh and crisp √+, the vermicelli √+, fresh mint, lemongrass and vietnamese flair √+ taste √+, presentation √+. The thai ice tea delicuous, wait staff personable and efficient. No desert on the menu, but doesnt matter. Little on the pricey side for lunch but well worth it. Both of my dining partners brought home another meal. No alcohol or beer but i still gave 4 stars for atmosphere. Its super clean with ez parking.

Honestly the sweetest and nicest family ever. Ive been there 2 times now and the food brings back memories of my family growing up…Viet food was a big part of growing up. I had their Banh Mi Sandwhich 2 times now and it has been consistently good. Crispy and soft french roll with fresh herbs, vegetable and tender beef. The vietnamese iced coffee is the best I have ever tasted and goes perfect with the crushed ice they use there. The pho is amazing…the most aromatic, light and clear broth is the perfect balance with thin rice noodles cooked to perfection. Today I had their Vermicilli Noodle Salad with Pork and Fried Spring Roll and it tasted like how my mom makes it. When it came out the portion was huge! This family does not cut corners when it comes to their menu and you can tell they love serving great food to the community. I ride my motorcycle all the way from Englewood to Punta Gorda just to get a taste of home and i cant wait to visit them again.

Tonight I had a Bahn Mi and there were no pickled veg (jalapeno, carrot, etc) nor cilantro. The veg was like coke slaw. Me eat and roll. Fab! Sandwich was off.

This restaurant is smack in the middle of Punta Gorda’s dining district and is a hole in the wall with authentic Vietnamese food. My intent was to have Pho, which I had, but their appetizers are a cut above the rest and very very inexpensive. I had their crispy shrimp and pork wontons with sweet chilli sauce. The drive over the bridge to get to this restaurant is so beautiful. They staff is very kind and they have a huge following of locals. The place is impeccably clean and service is quick, even though everything is made to order.

Best pho around. Owner always there working hard. Very reasonable prices too. Good selection. And recently renovated location makes it welcoming and clean.

I can’t eat at the Belgian Monk every time I’m in Punta Gorda. So I decided to go next door, to Pho Saigon.
A big menu with appetizers, pho, vermicelli & rice dishes grouped separately. I like that.
And a first for me: different sizes.
I ordered the Pho Hai San, small, because I really wanted seafood. It come with shrimp (2), fish balls (not what your thinking), octopus, squid & supposedly scallops of which I didn’t see any. I do wish the tails were removed from the shrimp so I dont have to dig around in my hot soup with bare fingers. A side plate had bean sprouts and a huge slice of jalapeño. Everybody in the pool!
The broth was a bit blah but with Sriracha, fish sauce, soy sauce and hoisin on the table, doctoring it to taste is easy-peasy.
The staff was friendly at noon on a Wednesday in season and speedy. I was eating 5 minutes after I sat down.
The restaurant is very roomy with tons of space to navigate a wheelchair. One wall has booths, the rest of the seating is tables and chairs plus there is room at the bar for 5-6.
A side note: the chopsticks are not the disposable kind (usually bamboo), they are reusable, washable plastic. A bit harder for me to grab with but not thrown out after the meal.
I’ll gladly come back.

First time checking this spot out, and nothing really grabbed my attention while looking at the menu. I’ve had Vietnamese fare before, so I know what I’m looking for. The taste was bland. The shrimp was crunchy. The steamed dumplings were great minus the lacking of flavor. It was not busy at all, and many empty seats. Considering where they are located, it’s relative as the restaurant is located in the corner of the plaza and access to it is not very convenient due to the traffic flow.
I’m sure this place has a following, and I’m not knocking it, just not for me.
