It was quite nice to have the sauce and banchan bar where you can grab your own dishes. This prevents to keep having to get refills from the staff. They also had marinated meats you can grab, but those were not our cup of tea. We did keep ordering their beef belly and brisket. There was so many different sauces, and I enjoyed that they had rice paper on the side.
I found out that they do have another location in Rowland Heights. It seems that they also have the same deals. Would love to try the premium option next time. The server was friendly and they regularly came to change our grill. Again you really can’t beat the price for the quality of food and experience. Until next time !
What really made the night stand out was our server, Amy. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure our grill was always clean and the food was cooking perfectly. She checked in at the right times without being intrusive and made the whole dining experience smooth and enjoyable.
Great food, great service, and a great vibe overall. Definitely a 5-star experience — I’ll be coming back again!
What truly makes our visits exceptional is Dahlia. She is incredibly helpful, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. She makes sure we understand the menu, checks on us regularly, and keeps everything running smoothly. Her customer service is truly outstanding!
We will definitely keep coming back. Highly recommend!
Regular tip: If you’re planning to come when it’s raining, use Yelp to put your name on the waitlist and wait in your car until they text you that your table is ready. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait outside and you will definitely get soaked!
For better KBBQ and service drive 10mins down to Cerritos and go to Gogi The. Trust me that’s a way better option.
I was really excited to try this place cause it’s like down the street and I love KBBQ. Seen it mentioned on IG, and was finally happy Downey gets a KBBQ spot. Joined waitlist online max eta was 8:45pm wasn’t seated till like 9:10pm, mind you I was 1st in queue too. But I’m patient so wait wasn’t my issue, more so the attitude of the employees. Front hostess definitely gave off bad vibes and she gave us our check 30mins before or time limit was up. That seemed strange cause why is the hostess giving the check when we have a server? Asked server and he said that was normal, but I’m observant and no other table got there checks just us. Made us feel rushed and unwanted which is a shame cause I had high hopes for the spot. Only good service we got was from the bus boy, he was cool and polite.
So again go to Cerritos and eat at Gogi The instead.
Let’s Gogi might want to send employees over to Gogi The in Cerritos to get trained on decent service.
My family and I love KBBQ, so we are pretty particular when we go out for AYCE KBBQ, but this place pleasantly surprised us in a good way!
LOCATION – Took the place of Pelicana. They managed to fit a good amount of tables in, along with the banchan self-bar, so that was surprising to see.
SERVICE – You join the waitlist with your phone # via Yelp or their tablet. Our server was Nathan and he was so nice and great. Spoke very professionally, asked if he we’d been there before, explained that we’ll be ordering through our phones using the QR code, and checked in on us once in awhile. The only minor thing about service was that we weren’t asked if we wanted a grill change at all, so we stuck with the same one. But that’s something we could’ve spoken up about if we really wanted one. Another thing to note is that time limit is 1.5 hours, whereas other places usually give you 2 hours. They even give you a time check come near your limit.
FOOD QUALITY – This place obviously knows it’s demographic. They’re in a predominantly Hispanic area, so they knew it’d be smart to add in esquite and corn tortillas on the menu. Such a nice touch. The quality of the meats were great though! We tried Menu B (I guess premium?) and the ribeye, beef tongue, and galbi were my favorites! Their thin sliced meats were also of quality with good marbling and not just fat. The self-service banchan bar had a good amount of variety as well. One thing to note is their grill was a little small. We were a party of 3 and it felt limiting and kinda slowed us down when trying to fit everything on the grill. But we managed and it wasn’t a bit deal.
PRICE – It’s like $30 for Menu A and $38 for Menu B, then lunch is $20! Compared to other places and considering the quality of their selection and meats, that is such a great price!
Glad I could add this to my list of go-to spots for KBBQ 🙂 I’ll definitely be returning!
Just one note to owner – maybe add another light above the banchan bar. It did seem just a smidge dark, but all good!
Service is pretty fast, and they change the grill frequently. Just make sure to ask for the premium option otherwise you’ll end up with the regular lunch $19.99.
