First time trying Flip Flop’s donuts after moving to E.I. It’s actually my birthday today and hasn’t been going well so far but the lady with the short hair and glasses changed that around with her sweet attitude and then she put an apple fritter in my box of donuts for me for my birthday, for free. It was so nice and unexpected.
Now, on to the taste. The cake batter donuts are to die for. I literally got there right before close and they were still fresh, airy and delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness. The apple fritter was the highlight of my day. They have a customer for life

Wow. Their donuts don’t just look good, but you can taste the quality and love put into them. Their donuts are massive so it will actually fill you up for breakfast. Their lemon pie donut is bomb, and I can’t wait to try the other ones later. They were pretty busy for 845 on a Sunday morning, so you know it’s good. Definitely worth a stop!

STOP HERE WHEN YOU COME THROUGH! This place is a hidden gem! We tried four of their donuts and loved them ALL – so good! The cereal donut was soft with a fun fruity crunch, the sprinkle donut was a chocolatey classic, and the buttercream-filled powdered donut was huge and packed with flavor. But the powdered cake donut stole the show! So Incredibly soft and perfectly sweet. Wish we would’ve bought one of everything! They also sell coffee that smelled absolutely delicious. The sweet lady at the front is so kind and sweet. Don’t miss this on your way in or out – you won’t be disappointed!

Flip Flops donut shop is a local favorite in Emerald Isle. They’re open daily from 8am to noon (or whenever they sell out). I must admit, I was surprised they opened so late (seems like most donut shops are open no later than 6am). You’ll want to get there early because a line forms quickly. We arrived about 20 minutes before the shop opened and there were already ten people in line. The donut shop is a good size with places to sit and eat or you can take your donuts to go. We ordered a wide variety. We had some chocolate with sprinkles, maple covered, cake donuts, bacon with chocolate, creme filled, and apple fritters. By far and away the best donut was the apple fritter. They didn’t skimp on the cinnamon and it showed! They’re the perfect consistency and are huge! The consistency of the other donuts were very good as well. Nice and soft with good flavor. The help could have been a little better. They didn’t offer much guidance and it would have been nice if they were clear that an apple fritter is not considered a donut (we ended up with 30 donuts instead of two dozen. Pricing is on point. You can plan to spend around $2 per donut. We’ll be back if we’re in the area. Well done!

Busy busy busy! This donut shop is so good it’s tough to get in! Don’t let that deter you however, they get their coffee from a reputable source and their donuts are handmade daily. The employees are helpful and kind and the line moves quickly! The environment is clean and fun to look at while you wait! If you’re in a rush don’t waste your time and break your heart, but if you need a donut and you’ve got a few minutes to stand in people watch it’s worth every moment and every dollar!

Flip Flop Donuts was a great local find. We sampled a variety of donuts and the (gigantic) apple fritters on our first visit. On our second visit we got 6 plain and 6 everything bagels, enjoying them for breakfast and BLTs. If you like breakfast sweets, the line, made to order donuts, and fresh bagels are worth the wait.

Just went to get some donuts with my kids. The owner was super nice. He gave me a very neat and informational tour of the small bakery. He picked out the variety pack for me (per my request). He talked to the kids to make sure they got the ones they wanted. Donuts are excellent. Will be back!

The 1st visit, 2 years ago, was nice. The 2nd visit, not so much. The donuts WERE NOT fresh. The coffee was so old and strong it could walk your donuts to the car. It was also $4 and undrinkable. And, there was a huge water bug crawling across the floor so I couldn’t eat the donut after seeing it.

Delicious doughnuts. Open from 8 am until they sell out (or until noon). Quite a line first thing. Website is unclear about available varieties, making it seem like you can get so many ones, but in reality you have to pick from what is made that morning. Also the website says no ordering ahead, but a lady came in just to pick up her order first thing, so not sure. Still yummy!
