I’ve been meaning to come here since I found out (only recently) it existed,
I’ve got to be super honest and say I’m addicted to huggers in long Stratton, so to prise myself away to try a river green roast was highly difficult and I had my doubts but OH MY GOODNESS!
Chef knows what he’s doing! This isn’t no guess work, this is carefully crafted and very well seasoned, beautiful food!
I feared it wouldn’t be enough as the portion size seems small but that’s only because I am all too used to piling up way more than i ever need, it turned out to be the perfect amount to then enjoy a dessert and not leave with that uncomfortable, guilty over full feeling.

My non vegan friend had to agree how incredible it all tasted too, we had the chestnut and mushroom wellington with seasonal veggies and then the apple and ginger crumble, yes yes yes and yes do not hesitate if you’re eyeing it up on the edge of uncertainty!

I checked before arrival if I could bring my 4 legged sidekick and of course I could, not only was it okay but they came to welcome him with his own bowl of water and some treats!
Another personal touch was the chef bringing out his works of art himself, sprinkled with a touch of sarcasm when he noticed my friend asked for salt before even trying! Haha

All in all, a really pleasant, tasty experience and I’m already craving my next visit!

Thank you to all the wonderful, kind staff who made the atmosphere even better!

First time coming to this restaurant and I’ll be back! Came with a friend who had been (and recommended ) and my dog and it was a really lovely experience. From greeting us and making sure the dog had some water and a biscuit to noting that they had me down as a coeliac (sometimes, restaurants don’t read the booking notes) we felt safe and welcomed.

My dish of courgette gnocchi was amazing and my friend thought the same.

Atmosphere was also great, even though we were the first in, the music was at a good level and the music choice was also great. Really appreciated the chef coming over to ask how everything was as well.

All in all, I can see why this has been so highly reviewed and I cant wait to come back again. Thank you.

Three non vegans joined our vegan friend for dinner.
Welcome was friendly. Decided on mains and desserts and there was a significant wait for food. While everyone enjoyed the food, it’s really not for me to be honest.
Small quibble, the crumble could have used quite a bit more custard.
My friend loved the cranachan!
Nice selection of local beers and ciders.

Proper place. Can’t fault the service, the friendliness and personal service of the chef. And the food is a real tasty delight. As you see in the photos it’s a visual explosion of colour but that’s all natural foods not additives. Relaxing. Lucky enough to catch the bog off deal on mains but at £15-20 a main plate it was value full price. Cos it’s tucked away I forgot about this place. Suggest you book as they were having to turn away several groups on a Friday lunchtime. We’ll be back.

What an amazing find! We’re in the area for the open water swimming competition tomorrow and found this absolute peach of a place very close by. So much incredible choice. Food so so impressive. Everything is either gluten free or can be made gluten free. And very dog friendly. Considering coming back tomorrow after the competition.

I’ve eaten here twice now, once on a Saturday evening and once on a Sunday lunchtime. On both occasions I found both the food and service to be exceptional. The staff were both helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I live 45 minutes away, but the food was so incredibly good that I happily travelled that far a second time, and I would happily travel there again and again. The burrito was delicious, as was the roast dinner. I also liked the fact that they have vegan drinks on the menu. In the future I would be very interested in attending one of their cookery classes.

An incredible eating experience. The staff were pleasant and attentive, especially to diatery restrictions, highlighting and noting any previously specified ones on our menu. The food was also to a very high standard, celebrating local and fresh ingredients. The chocolate and coffee tart is a stand out, balancing the two flavours to perfection. As a non-vegan I didn’t feel like anything was missing from my plate – the highest praise I can give. As for atmosphere, the music was at the perfect volume allowing for good conversation without feeling like you were being overheard.
Can recommend River Green Restaurant enough for it’s attentive staff and outstanding food.

Went here for our Son’s 18 birthday, just a quiet dinner with a friend who is non-vegan. Wonderful meal as always, our friend was most impressed with his curry and the eaton mess for afters. Love that the menu changes frequently with a few staples. Excellent service, food different and inventive and above all delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant for vegan and non-vegans to enjoy good food.

We’ve been to Rivergreen a few times now and have enjoyed every experience. There are a range of options to suit different tastes and I always find the meals so full of flavour. Often vegan food isn’t worth eating out for as it’s normally not the best quality but the food at Rivergreen is such good quality and the ingredients are so fresh and full of flavour. I love that they use locally grown ingredients. The restaurant is lovely and has a relaxed feel. I find it very sensory friendly and is never too overwhelmingly busy and love being able to see put over the park through the big windows.
