My mom and friend decided to try this hidden gem based on Facebook recommendations. This place did not disappoint. Our server, Heather was welcoming and friendly. She provided information on foods we ordered, let us know that all of their sauces are made in-house, with the exception of ketchup, mustard and mayo. The portions were generous. I live in Goose Creek, but will make it a point to come back when in West Ashley.

Food: Country fried steak with hush puppies, sweet potato fries, and hash and rice

It was good food. I think the puppies, hash, and rice should have been warmer, but, overall, it was good food in good portions for the cost.

Decor, service, and ambiance were all good. I don’t know what the TVs on the walls were for.

I’m taking off a star because not only does this restaurant not accept contactless payment but does not even accept chip insertion. To pay with a card, the card has to be swiped. The only other place I’ve seen this in the CHS area is at an airline check-in counter.

It ain’t fancy inside, but the food is to die for and service was fantastic!

The printed menu is not exceptional, but the specials are out of this world! I opted for the shrimp and grits w brown gravy, butter beans, and and extra side order of green beans…I could have died and gone to heaven! The shrimp were perfect and grits and gravy/sauce were so unbelievably flavorful and sumptuous!

I did not have room for dessert but I sure wish I had!

This is a GREAT super authentic southern cooking lowcountry gem!!!!

I just finished eating collard greens and black eyed peas from the Mason Jar located in West Ashley. By far …. the best I ever had and this is From an old guy who has lived in Charleston my entire life! In fact I’ve ordered about everything on the menu and it’s all excellent …. all southern. Thank you Charles Lee for starting my New year in a scrumptious manner…… this man knows southern cooking like no other ‍

This is a cozy joint providing food like you would find at a Southern cooking beighborhood home. Some things were fantastic and others sub-pat (ie-cornbread). They only have a limited supply of what they have so once theyre out, there are out. The food doesn’t boast a great presentation for the money you pay. But, you get a lot and it tastes fine; it’s just that… Fine. Just wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here since I live in the South and know there are several other restaurants that can make the same, just better. Try the bacon grilled cheese and collards. I hear the breakfast is good, so I would return to try that.

When I walked into the restaurant, two ladies greeted me. Later I learned ine was the owner.
As I was waited for a friend, I ordered the fried pickles. I was surprised, that it was pickles spears. There was grease to the bottom of the basket however it was tasty. I did not care for the sauce. I ordered the Crab cakes with 2 sides. I had butter beans and collard green along with 2 hushpuppies. I enjoyed the butter bean and Crab cakes. My friend ordered the grill Mahi Mahi with 2 sides. The fish was dry. She did not enjoy the salad and collard greens. She loved the unsweetened and sweeten tea. When informing the waitress of the concerns. She directed us the owner. The owner removed the Mahi Mahi from the ticket. I felt bad because I was paying for the meal this time. We are undecided, if we will try again and try something different. The service was good. The food is average.
