At our Norfolk, VA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

We stopped by here unintentionally since we were already starving on a Sunday afternoon, and we couldn’t be happier. The food selection was surprisingly delicious and varied, and was very reasonably priced. Serving was generous and you get more for your money, so we had our stomachs filled. I would recommend to anyone looking for some seafood fare that is not too fancy and is delicious. We will definitely come back soon.

At the 21st street Captain D’s, I went through the drive thru, ordered a 2pc fish and fries. It typically comes with 2 pieces of fish, hush puppies and fries. I get home to a piece of bread laying in my plate. I called the restaurant and asked why there was a particular reason, I got a piece of bread instead of hush puppies. The guy on the phone said they were out and that he was sorry lol. I said you guys failed to mention that at the time I placed my order and don’t you think that would’ve been helpful to know prior to placing an order. The young man never offered anything to help with being inconvenienced of my meal. I will never order another meal at this lousy establishment. I wish I could give zero stars. Please do better.

0 stars !! Disgusting. Didn’t have corn, or proper size cups. Gave me a child cup when I ordered a medium. Food is disgusting. Workers don’t wear hairnets. Girl was wearing red weave and shedding hair everywhere. Fries burnt. WORST PLACE EVER NEVER COMING BACK.

This dining experience was the worst ever! The cashiers were rude and slow and did not have my order correct. Did not mention that corn on the cob had an up-charge until I asked why it was not in my bag. I wanted corn, not coleslaw! The drive thru window was shattered by a bullet, making me feel unsafe and wondering why it was not repaired. Total overall experience….horrible.

The most underrated seafood restaurant there is… came in not knowing what kind of experience to expect and the results where just insanely good. The food was crisp and fried to the correct degree, along with the service being incredibly helpful–combined with amazing quality seats and even plastic plates makes this a full-on 5 Star Review.

The food and service was great. However, it was 92 degrees outside and the AC in the restaurant was turned off. C’mon Captain D’s. You can do better. Your employees shouldn’t be forced to work in unsafe conditions because you’re cheap. I won’t be back.

Food is always delicious and reasonably priced. Been going @ 7 years @ 3×a year. I always go drive-thru, but it is SLOW, and no employee has ever been FRIENDLY at all! No smiles, no thank you, no have a great day….and honestly great service would probably make me come back more often!

I didn’t have a long wait time and always enjoyed the music while I wait for my orders. It would’ve been a better experience if the waiter/cashier would smile a little because when people have that serious look we as customers don’t know how to take their attitude and that makes the customers wonder should we hold a conversation or not!

When after church on Sunday, December 29, 2024, with my mother. For once, it wasn’t crowded. It was clean and had been rearranged. I liked the new look. The bathroom was nice and clean. The food was horrible. I ordered the spicy fish, string beans, corn on the cob, and half lemon and half sweetened tea. My mother ordered the 3 piece cat fish with fries and broccoli. It was the worst food I had ever gotten from this establishment.
