This one of Portlands hidden gems. It’s the best greek food in Portland, and the service and atmosphere really make for a great experience. We can’t thank the staff enough for their hard work and hospitality, which made our birthday celebration here unforgettable. My family have been coming here for years and they have always been consistent in their service and food. This a great place to go for just dinner or for special occasions. Thank you again, it was an awesome dinner, as always.

Food was ok, but not super great. Staff really nice and friendly. I would definitely try this again and some other dishes. They have many interesting things on the menu card.

It breaks my heart to write this. Eleni’s was my favorite restaurant in Portland 14-15 years ago. It’s where I always chose to go for special occasions because every aspect of it felt special, especially the food. Then I moved away for a while, but we moved back home so we went there last night. I was excited.

I didn’t see my usual on their new menu. I tried their makaronia me soutzoukakia instead.

What a major disappointment. The spaghetti noodles were overcooked and very wet, making the rest of the bowl watery. The meager amount of sauce was straight from a can – not a single part of that sauce was fresh. It was also watery. The feta? Not even a tablespoon sprinkled on top, and it was the dry crumbly kind you get at the store in a plastic tub. Lastly, there were only 3 meatballs, no more than 1 inch wide, and they seemed freezer-burned and leathery. This dish was $24 and absolutely robbery.

My husband got the special and liked it, and the watery feta filo we ordered wasn’t totally cold by the time it reached us, so here, have an extra star for that. Sadly, we won’t be back.

Another excellent place in the lower half of the pearl. The S.O. and I try places around the pearl before shows at the armory and this has become part of the rotation. The food is really fresh and the portions are generous. Atmosphere is chill and the place is quite enough for a good conversation. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Snug and savory cafe nestled close to the heart of the Pearl. We shared a roasted eggplant starter, Lahano (cabbage) salad, souvlaki, and lamb orzo. Everything was delicious, fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. Our server was attentive and helpful. The dimly lit space causes most guests to gravitate to street-side tables. We were delighted with our meal and look forward to returning.

I’ve now been twice and the food has been excellent both times. The calamari was a highlight for me this trip. My server has been great both times as well. And every thing is very reasonably priced. Will definitely return for a third time!

My niece out in CA said she had met a Greek couple and that they had mentioned that Eleni’s Philoxenia served the best Mediterranian food, so my friend & I had decided to give it a try after an all day hike. We walked in, aplogizing how we were dressed and the person seating us, who happened to wait on us as well, made us feel very comfortable and said not to be concerned about how we were dressed,
We sat down, warm pita bread was served with some kind of dip, olive oil and tomatoes I think…Very delicious! We had questions about the menu and it was explained nicely to us. I ordered the grilled calamari as an appetizer…it was the BEST tasting, soaked in lemon, olive oil, I think butter…it had a smoky grilled flavor to it…phenonmenal…MUST TRY! Next I had a philo dough with lamb. The philo had a nice crunch, the lamb meat was slightly sweet, it was good. I also placed an order for seafood spaghetti to bring home, but had a taste of it. Delish! My friend liked the chiken special spaghetti. I will be going back for the calamari again and I believe I will try the lamb shank or lamb on a bed of veggies.

WOW WOW WOW!!
I went to this Elini’s to celebrate my partner’s birthday and I was so amazed. They are very cosy and intimate setting and it’s a full fine dining experience. The food is very flavourful and delicious, loved the lamb pasta as well as the mushroom appetizer special. The server was super sweet and helped us choose from the menu. It was a little empty for a Friday night so not sure why they aren’t filled up when they’re so good. Show them some love!! ♥️♥️
