Normally I wouldn’t frequent a bar with such terrible food and poor service except for the bartenders. And at one point I thought they were great. But do not be deceived! They just want your money and your tips!!!!! At one point, I thought that my regular status would bring some perks. Unfortunately, that was a pipe dream. If you’ve been there a few times and it’s busy, you will be the last person served. Do yourself a favor and don’t be recognizable– you’ll have a better chance of being served. If you come in and order more than two shots, you will be cut off. As you know, this is not a state law, this is not a county law, this is not a Chelsea law, this is a Dockside-Chelsea law. And the bartenders don’t enforce it across the board, or based on how much you’ve had… it’s a matter of whether or not they like you. The trick is to just not go in.
They recently fired 3 of their best bartenders simply because they didn’t work enough. Craziness!!!!! A good bartender is a good bartender! Don’t have a life if you want to work here, apparently. The food here tastes good, but watch out the next morning. It will hurt.
It’s rather difficult to alienate a regular such as me. However, the dockside has managed to do it, because of their terrible food, their poor service, and their bad policies. 1 star.
So, in comparison to its immediate surroundings, if you’re dropping a load at the produce center or you’re just in the general Chelsea area, Dockside is a great choice at a decent price.
It is a bar and restaurant so it appeals to the young who’d like to grab a bite real quick or the old who are divorced and are halfway through their second drink at 1pm on a Monday. Wtf?
The decor is average but clean with a sporty theme. The restroom smells nice and seems to be well kept. The exterior is nothing special but is also hard to miss, so whatever.
The service is great, no pressure and simply stated. As a trucker I parked my tractor in the lot that was easily accessible but not appropriate according to the manager. She didn’t like that we were taking up 6 spots with one vehicle and she didn’t hesitate to tell us to move, but we didn’t and she wasn’t too bent out of shape about it. There was plenty of parking on that lot but we wanted to park close because we are lazy truckers (stereotype). Just in case she reads this, I apologize.
Now, the food was a surprise. You’d expect it to be ehh, but it actually was pretty aahh! Large portions, hot on arrival and appropriately priced. The taste wasn’t “I gotta go back to dockside” but more like “eehh, I guess we can just go to dockside”. Basically, it isn’t brag worthy but it is return worthy. As for my drink, Pepsi. It is very seldom that you are able to find an establishment that mixes fountain drinks to taste like the canned version. Docksides Pepsi tastes like one of those cheap off brand cola from the super market. I pay very close attention to soda quality so don’t judge them too hard on this. Let me do it.
If I were to compare Dockside nationally, I would say they are similar to Buffalo Wild Wings minus the decor.
In conclusion, You won’t be disappointed with the price/quality ratio and the service should not prompt any complaints. Good establishment. Will return in a smaller vehicle.
PS, I don’t know what the hell Mat K is talking about.
I popped in between appointments today, and the food, atmosphere and staff were all very inviting. Expectations – Staffing and quality virtually impossible these Days – Not great, but not poor by any means.
