Thats Amore Italian Cafe

Social Profile:

An understated storefront hides a coveted skyline view—just one of the many ways you could underestimate this longtime cafe on Mount Baker’s main drag. The menu, the sign—even the name—are a bit of a throwback, but current owners Guy Devillier and David Hoefer took over in 2018 and keep things attuned to today. Carbonara packs more nuance than you might expect, the slightly crackly pizza’s better than it has to be, and the bar pours lambrusco and negronis. No wonder tables are loaded with a diversity of diners.

Great place, great service. Our waiter was very nice on a busy day like Feb 14th.
Food though, I don’t know seemed a bit overpriced. I got the Penne Specialli, the pasta was aldenete, but it was so watery like a lot. The flavor was not rich and deep, my partner got the Tortellini, which was better but for the portion sizes, the food is definitely overpriced. The tiramisu though, was phenomenal. Very creamy and soft , even the lady fingers were soaked well.

Would recommend if you’re there for the cute and cozy vibes but not for the food.

We went for our anniversary dinner and everyone at That’s Amore made our night incredibly special! We were greeted with a happy anniversary right at the start! Everything was delicious – I had the crab pappardelle (one of the evening’s specials – highly recommend) and it had incredible richness. Our dessert (which was complimentary and one of the best Tiramisu’s I have enjoyed) even had a sweet anniversary note included! Our server was also incredibly welcoming, and was very insightful about recommendations! Would definitely come again! Thank you for making our anniversary so special!

This is the perfect place to come with someone you love. From the appetizer to the dessert, and between vegetarian and non-veg dishes, everything exceeded our expectations. We tried the Valentine’s day menu (pear ravioli, crab pasta) and normal menu (vegetarian pizza, tiramisu).

We also ordered two drinks, which wasn’t the star of the night, but it set a good atmosphere. I also loved the decor and ambience of the place. But I’m a foodie, so I live and breathe for the food – which The Amore absolutely delivered.

If you want to make your loved ones happy, bring them here.

We went here for our anniversary based on an OpenTable recommendation. They did not let us down! Our server turned out to be the owner and he told us a lot about their story. Dinner was delicious, and he comped us cannolis for our celebration. Highly recommended, but definitely make a reservation in advance!

Very kind servers and cute spot. Clarified my dairy allergy with (both) our servers, but our salad and my entree both came out with cheese on it. The salad I didn’t say anything, just picked the cheese off the top and moved on. The pappardelle they remade for me which was kind, however they served my husband his entree. By the time mine came back out he was almost done, so a bit awkward timing. Overall the quality and flavor were a bit lacking, we both felt like our dishes could use more sauce and depth. A bit overpriced imo but will come back to try again.

Arrived just after opening and was asked if I had a reservation. I said, ‘no,’ not realizing my friend had made one and was shown to a 4-top by the window and told we would have to finish by 7 PM to accommodate a reservation, which would have been a non-issue except the place was empty. I felt awkward and uncomfortable. Food was fine. Three more parties arrived while we dined and when we left, most of the tables were still unfilled.

We celebrated our anniversary at That’s Amore Italian Café and had a wonderful experience. The staff made us feel special from the moment we walked in, wishing us a happy anniversary several times. We got a great table with a beautiful view, they even surprised us with a complimentary dessert, and every dish was delicious. My husband loved his chicken Parmesan and my pork belly was incredible. Highly recommend!

We’ve been meaning to try this place since we moved to the area. It was awesome. The staff, cocktails, food, & vibe. All amazing. They also have some dinner options for kids and can’t wait to come back with them. Such a gem in our neighborhood.

Everything about this restaurant is perfect! The food, atmosphere, views; everything. I got the Chicken Parmesan and it was absolutely incredible. I also tried some of the pork that my friend ordered, and it was so, so good. That pork was the best I’ve ever had, and so much better than pork at most specialty BBQ restaurants I’ve been to. The desserts were top notch as well. Very rarely can I find a restaurant that does everything perfectly, but Thats Amore is one of them.
