First time coming here! We didn’t realize it was connected to Lewis BBQ but this place was sooo cute!!! The decor and atmosphere was honestly one of my favorites. Our server was great too! Everyone loved their food, I highly recommend the chili con queso (eat the bowl after). The only thing that could be better was their tortillas and chips. I just wish they were a little thinner!

This was my third visit to Rancho Lewis, and I really wanted to love it since I’m a huge fan of Lewis Barbecue! We were actually on our way there but couldn’t wait in the hour-plus line with our little ones, so we decided to stop here instead.
Rancho Lewis has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and beautiful décor, even though the area around it is currently under construction. The restaurant was packed, but the wait time wasn’t long, which was great.
My wedge salad with steak protein was just okay — nothing special this time. The biggest disappointment was the very limited kids’ menu. The only options were a bean and cheese burrito, a cheese quesadilla, or chicken tenders. With two kids who are gluten-free, what they really wanted was a simple beef and cheese taco, which unfortunately wasn’t available unless we ordered a $22 steak taco off the main menu.
Overall, it’s a nice spot with potential, and I’ll give it another try down the road.

We had a big family dinner at Rancho Lewis and it couldn’t have been better! The staff handled our large group with ease, keeping drinks full and the chips and salsa flowing. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and full of that authentic Tex-Mex charm—plus the artwork and decor made for the perfect backdrop for photos.
Every plate at our table looked amazing, from tacos and fajitas to burgers and ribs. The flavors were spot-on and portions generous. You can tell everything’s made fresh and served with pride.
If you’re in Charleston and want great food, friendly service, and a place that can handle a crowd while still feeling welcoming, Rancho Lewis is the spot. Highly recommend for families, groups, or anyone who loves great Tex-Mex!

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Rancho Lewis before! I’ve been there so many times! My favorite time to stop by is for lunch, though. The lunch break fajitas are my favorite – it’s such a wonderful deal! Honestly, it could be the best steak I’ve ever had. I would recommend Rancho Lewis over and over again!

The primary adjective I would choose for the cuisine at Rancho Lewis is HEARTY. The service was exceptional and the venue is lovely. Quick for us to get a table around 5:30 on a Saturday evening. I want to come back and try some lighter fare, but my husband definitely won the clean plate award.

After a previous visit I probably would have rated this place 4/5. This time not so much. I do like their salsa bar to go with the chips served. We both had posole which was quite good, but had asked that it come out before we shared the Christmas burrito. That didn’t happen. They came out simultaneously. And even then the burrito was luke warm and really not very tasty. Last visit I had the brisket enchilada which was much better. Menu is actually pretty small. Beer and wine choices were adequate. Ambiance nice for a Tex Mex place. Not sure if we’ll try again.

We come here often, unfortunately our most recent experience we found a big piece of plastic while eating the burrito. We did say something to the waitress, who let the kitchen staff know. However, you shouldn’t ask if we would like it to be removed from our bill. It should just be removed from the bill as it was completely inedible after that. We weren’t going to say yes, please remove it, as it shouldn’t be up to us. If your kitchen staff puts plastic in a $30 entree, do your part and remove it from the bill. On a plus note, they do have decent food. I love the wedge salad and mango margaritas. Also, you shouldn’t place cacti near the front door. My 3 year old touched as she walked by it as any curious child might and we spent hours cleaning the needles from her fingers. I also saw some old lady back into it to move out of the way for your waiter and stab her legs. Place them on an elevated table or simply move them out of the crowded entryway!

This is the second time we had the opportunity to eat at rancho Lewis and it did not disappoint. I love the Mexican flare combined with the Lewis BBQ influence. Of course the brisket is fantastic and tacos or enchiladas. The staff is always friendly and attentive. It’s a bit noisy so if you are thinking of a business meeting you may either want to sit outside or ask for a table away from the bar.

Sadly the customer service has fallen below, even decent standards. I took guest from out of town on Jan 23, 7pm reservations. Surely the establishment recognizes this based upon reviews either good or bad, with no comment back on social media. We were seated, venue was half occupied, waited well over five minutes for our waitress, we had already went to the salsa bar, finally she shows, we ask for waters, chips, and a margarita pitcher. Well the waters took a while, snagged a server for the chips, which he immediately got for us, waitress stops by we order our meals and ask for more chips, simple orders from the menu, fajitas, the special and chicken. My wife inquires about the margaritas, oh its coming were told. A few minutes pass, waitress comes back, hey umm were out of the special, my gueat orders something else. I inquire hey can we get the chips please and where’s the margaritas, oh it’s backed up, it’s coming. Now we grow impatient and see the table besides us is having issues as well. Once again I reached out to the server, hey man hate to bother, can you get us some chips, sure man no problem, he was back in a minute or two. Our meals arrive, yep still no margaritas, we inquire and I said just cancel the pitcher of margaritas, shes like umm Im sorry, are you sure , we say yes and we begin to eat. Guess what no tortillas for the fajitas, we wait and wait, finally she comes back, hey we are going to comp the pitcher, we refused several times and say we need tortillas for our meal. She says oh, let me get those and im getting you the pitcher, okay whatever. We all just look at one another, after a few minutes we get the tortillas and she brings three glasses of margaritas, we just laughed, at this point we gave up,.We finished our meals and made our way out. Our waitress was a ghost, never asked how is it or how was it, at one point we got the ole eye roll, when we asked for more water, with our meals. Anyways, doubt we will ever be back, too many great restaurants in Charleston, with great service. For the record, I sent an email to management first before my review, called three days after our dinner to voice our expierence with the manager on duty. Shared all of our negative touch points, she stated she would get back with me as of this review February 3rd, its been crickets.
