I was attracted by the large steamer in the kitchen. Their food looked so delicious. I got the combo with Bao and noodle salad. The Bao tasted almost as same as the frozen one from groceries. The bbq pork one tasted better than the Mongolian beef. The cold noodle salad was refreshing with peanut sauce, but the peanut sauce tasted a little too strong for me.
Gentlemen were friendly and served fast. The price was low and the size was great. The food might not be authentic, but still flavorful.

Dumplings That Saved the Day (Almost)

I ordered from this spot the other night, and let me tell you — the dumplings were the star of the show. From the very first bite, I could tell they used dark meat chicken in the stuffing. That deep, savory flavor hit immediately — juicy, rich, and perfectly seasoned. You know how sometimes dumplings taste a little bland? Not these. These had character.

Then there’s the special soy sauce they include — not your average packet stuff. It’s mixed with pickled ginger, and every little slice of that ginger gave me life. Whew, chile. It had that perfect mix of tang and salt that brought the whole bite together.

Now, let’s talk about the rice. Unfortunately, it was a total letdown. Overcooked, mushy, and completely flavorless — the kind of rice that just sits there and ruins your mood a little. There wasn’t even a hint of texture; no bite, no flavor, just… sad rice.

So here’s my verdict: stick with the dumplings and that amazing soy-ginger sauce. Pour, dip, and enjoy while they’re hot — because once they cool down, they lose that magic quick.

Would I order again? For the dumplings alone — absolutely. But that rice? Never again.

PSA: You can tell by how bloated the rice is in the photo!

This place has fallen off so hard. I got an orange chicken fried rice bao combo and instantly regretted it. The fried rice is obviously frozen and reheated. The “chicken” tastes like soap and it’s the tiniest pieces. I don’t even think it’s real chicken the texture is so off. The Bao’s were just bland, overly doughy and under seasoned when it came to the chicken teriyaki. Do yourself a favor, avoid this place and spend your money with a small business

Wow Bao is a must-try! For just $7 for two buns, it’s an affordable, delicious, and super quick option right off the Magnificent Mile. The buns were packed with flavor and hit the spot perfectly. The service was incredibly fast, making it the ideal stop during a busy day of exploring.

Avoid the boba! It’s dry, chocky and has an off flavor. Worst boba I have ever experienced. The kung po noodles were alright, just very watery and the sauce does not stick to anything. The bao buns were decent, but overall not worth the hype or the price. I’d recommend any other bao/boba place.

I came on a Tuesday midday, it was not busy. got the six wow bun, Mongolian beef pack, and it was amazing.
I was actually more impressed, however, by the young man who assisted me at the cashier. Even though I could have just made my order at the kiosk, the young man was more than happy and insisted on taking my order at the counter. I have been here multiple times, and usually it’s some kind of teenager waiting at the grill, texting on their phone until you submit your order on the kiosk, but this young man set a brilliant example.
Remarkable experience.

I should have known not to go here both of guys was on their phones when I walked up I ordered terraki chicken noodle bowl and chicken dumplings when I tell you I cannot describe what it tasted like…
It did not taste like what was described I can’t believe they didn’t have customers at 1:30pm in Chicago Watertower busy time.. I will never ever eat there again, I’m sorry I don’t know what that was I got

This was the worst meal I’ve had in a long time. The noodles that come with the noodle salad are cold and taste like you cooked spaghetti at home, stuck it in the fridge, then ate it the next day. The teriyaki bowl looked a bit better, but it was only slightly better than the cold noodles because it was warm.

I guess it was a bit cheaper than the other places we’ve eaten on our Chicago trip – but it was easily the worst.

Disappointing for Asian Cuisine

After a shopping session at Water Tower Place in Chicago, I decided to stop by Wow Bao to satisfy a sudden hunger and opt for a healthy choice. Having traveled to several Asian countries and enjoyed their local cuisine, I was curious to try their food. Unfortunately, I was completely disappointed.

I ordered a rice dish with fried chicken and vegetables, but it was severely lacking in flavor. The spices, which are a hallmark of Asian cuisine, were almost nonexistent. Honestly, the authenticity and richness of flavors you’d expect from Asian cuisine were missing.

Asian cuisine deserves much better than this. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for authentic flavors.

Genuinely the most disgusting food I’ve ever attempted to eat. It was cold, and I’m almost certain the chicken they use isn’t real meat. Ended up throwing it all away after a few bites
