We visited Mai’s Thai for lunch today and each of us ordered a meal. When I walked in noticed boxes of items papers and other things sitting in the restaurant but I figured they we’re remodeling the place. I ordered my favorite Thai dish. I took one bite and couldn’t eat it. I had to spit it out. I asked if I could get something else to eat and was told that there wasn’t anything wrong with it. The grand daughter told me the problem was that I didn’t know what Thai food was supposed to taste like and that they were not going to be getting me anything else . Then she asked me if I had ever been to Thailand and said that if I had I would know there was nothing wrong with the dish because that was how it was supposed to be and there was nothing wrong with it. Then the owner Mai, came out and reiterated that there was nothing wrong with the food and when I apologized if I had offended them by not eating the food. She told me again that there was nothing wrong with the food and that they were not going to do anything else about it. She said “What happens when you go to a steak house and the food doesn’t taste right. They don’t bring you anything else or give you money back so we don’t either. “
The guests that came with me were shocked by the way they handled the situation and the fact that the meal I paid for was taken and nothing offered in return and they felt bad for me not having a meal so I ate my salad and then we left.
We all decided that although the other food tasted ok it was not worth ever going again. Especially after the way they treated us.
I had never been so disrespected at any restaurant. I have several very close Thai friends and they have been where my love of Thai food has flourished.

If you like this place and say it’s good, you have no clue what Thai food is. I could have looked past the disposable cup, bowl, and plates of the food was good but not for this overpriced food. The coconut chicken soup have no vegetables just chicken and coconut milk and very runny. Flavor was below average. The red curry with chicken was like nothing I’ve ever had in a bad way. I was served 5 pieces of chicken and a whole can of bamboo shoots with no vegetables. It was spicy but didn’t taste like anything I’ve had before. The $5 Thai tea was from a instant package and no milk. This place is a joke to call it Thai food and never returning. I recommend you stay away. The water and lady working was the only good thing.

The food is great. I’ve been coming to Mai’s for at least 10 years both dine in and carry out. Customer Service can be improved. I get excited about the food when entering but don’t feel too welcomed entering the store.
The extra spices are $1.00 and they only fill the small container half full (see picture). They used to make them full years ago.
If you want pretty good Thai food I’d recommend it. If you value customer oriented service you may or may not receive it.

Heard great things, but honestly, prices were very high, and portions were quite small for price point. Yellow curry with carrots and potatoes had carrots and potatoes that were near raw and very crunchy, and a large soup for $12 was small enough to fit into a small soup bowl. I get that times are tough, but ya…I dunno, doesn’t feel worth it…

Also food served on paper plates/bowls…I’m fine with that, but that’s reserved for street style food at street style prices, not $14 for a curry and some rice served in small paper bowls

Food was quality was good though

I’ve been wanting to try Mai’s Thai pretty much ever since moving to Southern Indiana four years ago and finally decided to go for it today. I had heard rave reviews from people in various social media groups so maybe my expectations were a little higher due to that. I ordered the Pad Prik (beef) and a side salad. The total was $22.25. For one meal. These are prices I would expect to pay when ordering through a food delivery service, not for pick up from a small business. Taste and flavor were good, but nothing spectacular and not spicy at all, even though the description stated it was in a spicy sauce. The salad dressing container was barely half full. Overall, a three as others seem to absolutely love it but I seriously doubt I will eat there again.

Mediocre to mid Thai food. Portions are small and their prices are hard to justify. Customer service is disinterested, awkwardly weird, and cold, at best. I’ve only gotten carry-out, but I imagine the inside dining experience to be a rather sad and depressing affair with an atmosphere that might be comparable to eating at a poorly lit garage sale. It’s worth spending more time to go across the river for better options.

The sauce that comes with the crab rangoons is one of the best I’ve ever had. It has a citrus flavor without being too overpowering.

Took Mrs. Mais cooking class and had a great time! Learned kitchen secrets and enjoyed others with similar passion for food! Would recommend to anyone who enjoys cooking, and I’ll be back for her next class about curry!! Thank you Mrs. Mai Thai!

Don’t go if you want friendly service, a clean restaurant and decent prices.
That being said, The curry was amazing! I had fried tofu and hot. The custard was good. My friends had two other dishes, one was with tofu, the other had chicken. The chicken based dish with fish sauce made my friend gag. Either the chicken or the fish sauce tasted spoiled. Rather than providing a new option for my friend to eat, the staff took offense to the notion that the meat could be bad. They offered no refund and no replacement, even after we requested a replacement option or refund. I have never been to a place that did not offer to fix the problem. I hope that in the future they choose to take better care of their patrons. My friend who had the bad food is very accustomed to eating the dish she ordered that had the spoiled food. She shared that it had never tasted like that before. I am hopeful that she will never have to endure that again. We plan to allow the health department to know, so that no one else will have that experience.
Three of us are and spent over $72 including tips. Never again.

It’s ok Thai food. I ordered rad nah ( not much meat and gravy is kind of sour), chicken satay ( dried but ok), and Thai iced tea ( just ok). They have signed ( don’t touch blinds) all over the restaurant. I feel like go to school or some kind of restriction place rather than eating at restaurant where I paid to eat there.
