Overall Experience: Rough and Regretful!

The first questionable sight was the hot food counter being completely unlit. Ordering was also confusing because the menu is positioned past the hot food station, near the register, yet customers aren’t allowed to order at the register. It creates a very awkward flow, and I watched this cause confusion for multiple customers during our visit.

I ordered the half-chicken meal with rice and beans. The food was cold, and the chicken had to be replaced three times due to poor quality. At one point I was handed a chicken neck bone instead of a thigh and a leg — it’s hard to understand how that mix-up happens. My wife ordered the mofongo with carne frita, which we expected to be fresh since it’s typically made to order. Despite waiting about 15 minutes for it, everything came out cold. No one ever let us know the order was ready, it simply sat on a back table near the register without anyone notifying us. There was also no offer of sauce or condiments of any kind.

On the safety side, the area near the soda machine has no mat or rug to catch spills, which is a slip-and-fall lawsuit waiting to happen.

Regarding the staff — no one in the front or back appeared to have any head covering, and no gloves were worn while serving food. Beyond that, the team clearly struggled with knowing their individual roles. There was a lot of visible confusion, and honestly, you could see the embarrassment on their faces. I felt for them, because this felt like a management failure more than anything else.

I offer this as genuine constructive criticism. I understand this location is still in its early stages of opening, but the current level of food quality and service is not where it needs to be. I hope the feedback is taken seriously and things improve because with the right adjustments, there’s clearly potential here.

Today was opening day, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, but the younger employees seemed lost, the yuca was served on top of the rice instead of on the side and without any oil or onions (I had to ask for it and they gave it to me in a separate container), the beans did not have much flavor, and neither did the chicken, which was very inconsistent, or the arroz con gandules. Very disappointing start, but I hope they learn from this and do better.

Thank you Pioccos Chicken for bringing a Puerto Rican restaurant to St. Cloud! The location is perfect, the food is delicious, and the family meals are very affordable. The decor is beautiful and there is plenty of seating for large families to gather and enjoy a great meal together. We are so happy to have a taste of Puerto Rico in our community!

Tonight (Sunday the 8th of March), drove 43 minutes from Kissimmee to try this restaurant. Everything online and on their door says they close at 9 pm. 8:35 pm, the doors are locked and the crew is cleaning and mopping floors. Won’t bother to give this place another chance. Terrible way to do business.
