Amazing Rio Grand Valley flavor. Pork asado had sufficiant heat, just to the edge, the way I like it. Beans and rice on par as it should be. Excellent salsas and chips to get you going. Handmade tortillas a plus. Very good service, treats customers like old friends. Ranchero videos on television.

The food was very tasty and that is some of the best red rice I’ve had in years. I usually hate rice at restaurants because they can never get it right, but this one had such a great flavor. Food was decently prized and very tasty. I got the Tampiqueña & my dad got the enchiladas. Beans tasted great & I’m not one to eat beans either. Staff was incredibly attentive & friendly. I’d come back again. They have a great selection and I really loved the atmosphere

Customer service is excellent and the food is very tasty. The complimentary cheese gorditas, which are deep fried, are served with a mini side of refried black beans top with fresco cheese, and small side of homemade salsa. They are only served betweeen 8am-11am after that they switch over to chips and salsa. Everything ordered at this restaurant has been a pleasure to eat. Food does not only look appetizing, but it is very tasty and the portions are generous. For dessert there are a handful of options. All of which are magnificent. It is recommend to try all of them: corn bread, fried bananas and the ever so popular Tridelicias.

Absolutely loved this Mexican Restaurant! I was looking for something light and this restaurant hit the right spot. Reyna, one of the waitresses, was so accommodating in recommending the perfect light meal. I had 2 quesadillas with charro beans and they were delicious ! She also brought as an appetizer soupy black beans with the best salsa. The drink i had was peach infused water! I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s also has a super quaint and comfortable atmosphere! 5-Star all the way in all aspects!

The atmosphere alone is breath taking. They take great care of their restaurant and try to have a great cleanliness all around. The food took some time to come out but when it did it was nice and hot. Not luke warm but hot. My wife chose the caldo/soup and it was hot but the flavor was lacking and she said she would rate the chicken soup/caldo as a 3 of 5. My meal was great as I chose the Mexican plate. Tasted real fresh and hot. Good balance personally.

I had a wonderful experience at El Portón Mexican Restaurant. I ordered the chilaquiles con pollo with an egg on top, served with black beans and queso fresco — everything was flavorful and perfectly prepared. I also enjoyed a delicious Champurrado, which made the meal even better.
The ambience is warm and inviting, and the service is excellent — everyone was kind, attentive, and made me feel welcome. I always have a good time when I come to El Portón, and I’m already thinking about coming back. Highly recommended!

This place is ok to be fair. I had some birria tacos that needed some salt, and the sauce just wasn’t it. I also tried some fried shrimp that was overpowered by the batter. Not bad, but not great.
(Atmosphere) Now my biggest complaint would be the smell the place has. They must have used an old mop or dirty rags to wipe the tables, something like that. You could barely smell the cinnamon scent they had. Lastly, the men’s restroom was dirty, and the urinal had a big leak coming off the handle, making everything worse. Keep in mind the place was empty when we arrived. Somebody should have checked while it’s a slow day.
