Amazing, authentic Italian bakery located in the adorable mountain town – Ben Lomand. Worth the beautiful drive! My favorite is their array of marzipan cookies. Their pizza is some of the best pizza in Santa Cruz County. They serve Gelato, lots of beautiful pastries, desserts and good coffee!
Across the street is a new Mexican restaurant, Corazon de Leon and less than a block away is Ben Lomand Market, Scarborough’s Hardware and Mountain Feed – all great places to stop and shop, when perusing the Santa Cruz Mountain communities.

Fantastic family bakery, very wonderful Italian pastries, gelato, coffees, pizzas, and more! Even a nice little selection of legit Italian food items to cook with like pastas and sauces. Friendly and welcoming staff.
Come experience a taste of Italy tucked away in the giant redwoods of the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains.

Love this place. My friend and I drive all the way from Cupertino for their Basquet an various pastries and cookies. The Calzones and Pizza are great too. Love the people…Leo, Deborah, David, Hanna….etc… The place is amazing. They put a lot of love and art into what they do here. This is a must Go to place amongst the Redwoods of Ben Lomond.

Great atmosphere. Its in Ben Lomond surrounded by redwood trees. The selections they offer all look amazing. Its hard to pick just one. The ice cream is good too. I had a fruit cup with custard. It was delicious. The Bombolini is also one of my favorites. They have outdoor seating. Limited parking but didnt seem to be a problem.

Awesome spot for authentic, high quality Italian food and desserts. The owners are actually from Italy. My partner is also from Italy, so we love to support any businesses owned by other Italians in our community. We live in Watsonville and had a great day taking a little drive up to Ben Lomond just to go to this bakery! Their baked items are beautiful! We tried so many because we just couldn’t decide. Their ricotta is house made so any of their pastries with the ricotta are a great choice! We tried and loved the mixed berry creme brulee! We definitely will be getting the tiramisu next time. I also got a delicious latte and we got some savory items as well, a spinach calzone and a puff pastry with prosciutto and cheeses. The calzone was made with brioche which was so soft and flavorful. We also tried their Bolognese pasta, which was delicious.
They serve their pizza starting at 11:30 am, so we will also need to go back for that too.
Definitely worth the visit for this authentic bakery! Everything was absolutely gorgeous and just as delicious! The staff are all very, very kind and helpful. We will love to go visit them in the future.

La Placa Bakery offers amazing dessert delicacies that are simply irresistible! The coffees are perfectly balanced with just the right amount of caffeine and sugar, making them a perfect complement to their treats. Conveniently located right off the drive in the Santa Cruz area, it’s a must-visit for anyone in the neighborhood. Highly recommend.

Love, love, love this place. There is quite a delicious variety of both sweet and savory baked goods. The pizza is just wonderful. One great draw for me is that they use flour imported from Italy, which has a much more tolerable gluten profile. And oh yeah—let’s not forget the delightful espresso.

This family-owned bakery in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains is an absolute treasure! From the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the incredible aroma of fresh-baked goods make you feel right at home. Their house-made pastries are phenomenal—flaky, buttery, and bursting with flavor. My personal favorite is the bear claw, but they sell out quickly so you have to get there early. The pizza is a must-try, with a perfectly crispy crust and high-quality, fresh ingredients. And don’t leave without trying their gelato—so creamy and delicious, it’s the perfect treat! Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this spot is well worth a visit. Can’t wait to come back!
