the roast chicken was also very solid, well cooked with an interesting bread sauce.
(And would like to send King chefs Jess and Clare special greetings from the Mothership; River Cafe in London, where we are having lunch a the moment.
Ruth, Charles and Sian send their continued congratulations for a job well done…across The Pond.
For us, you bring the inventiveness, dedication to craft and superlative local products to your restaurant.
Thank you!
(And yes, I have your cookbook… not your incredible skill of course!)
So after work on Monday, I came back again, this time sitting at the bar, and once again ordered the salami along with all the appetizers. Everything was just as delicious as the first time. The bar staff who served me (I wish I knew his name) was incredibly kind — when I told him how much I loved the salami, he went the extra mile to write down on a card where I could find and buy it in the city.
It’s this kind of thoughtful detail that makes King such a special place. Even if I never go out to buy the salami myself, I’ll continue coming back here regularly because of the consistently wonderful food and the genuine hospitality. Thank you for making each visit memorable — I’ll be back often!
We still appreciated the setting and the service, but overall, the meal didn’t quite live up to our expectations.
This pasta was not that. The pasta itself was indistinguishable from a box of Barilla angel hair pasta in taste and overcooked. The sauce was extremely watery and flavorless (see photo for evidence). The portion was tiny—other members of my party were satisfied with their main courses (not the pasta), while I was left hungry even with multiple shared starters and the tarte tatin for dessert (it was burnt but still decent). Even worse, the pasta was completely cold. I was with other people that I did not want to burden with my disappointment by sending it back, but I am honestly appalled that such food can be sent out to customers.
White truffles are in season right now and appearing on many Italian restaurant menus in the city. Please do yourself a favor and order it at a different restaurant. Do not waste your money on the white truffle pasta here. This was a lazy beginner cook effort at fine dining cost. One of the most disappointing dining experiences I have had.
