For my entrée, I ordered the pork chops, and they were exceptional—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. My family chose the Thanksgiving special, complete with turkey, gravy, pie, and all the traditional sides. Everything was prepared with great care, well-seasoned, and pleasantly portioned. It was the kind of meal that reminds you why this holiday matters: simple, comforting food served with pride.
The bar is another highlight. They offer a wide selection of cocktails, and the two I tried were both excellent—balanced, creative, and made with quality ingredients. Whether you’re a cocktail lover or just curious to explore, the bar alone is worth the visit.
If there is room for improvement, it would simply be to continue enhancing the service pace during busier moments, as the quality of the food and ambiance deserves a dining experience that is consistently smooth from start to finish.
Overall, the Safari Room is a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion or enjoy a classic dinner with loved ones. With its nostalgic atmosphere, flavorful dishes, and impressive cocktail selection, it is absolutely worth a visit. I look forward to returning.
So I was staying at a hotel nearby for a couple days, and shopping at Vons across the street from the Safari Room. Every time I went shopping I could smell meat cooking… had no idea where it was coming from. After the 3rd of 4th time shopping, I crossed the street to see who was burning steak so well. Lo and behold, this old place was it.
I walked in, and it was like I was in Vegas in the 60s. Coolest place ever on the inside. The staff were AMAZING, the bartender Shirley was sassy, and hilarious, and makes a killer Mai Tai! The patrons were all pleasant, and you can tell most had been there many times…
But the FOOD!!! OMG, what a ton of food for such an amazing price, and every bite was DELICIOUS! I’ve never been more impressed with a Special like this one.
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend this spot. You will not be disappointed.
It gets busy from time to time but everybody is enjoying themselves.
The prime rib was good but not great. The Friday clam chowder was above average, considering it’s obviously not heat and serve. You can taste the seasonings and bite on actual clams.
My other half had the topsirloin and shrimp special. It’s definitely worth the visit. The steak was cooked exactly to order and the shrimps were not over grilled.
Can’t go wrong with draft Stella and salmon creek zinfandel.
The chocolate mouse pie was good too, but the inexpensive chocolate sure sauce drizzle was not needed.
When the bill arrived, $85 plus tip, we looked at eachother and without saying a word we both knew we will return.
