Estela’s is my absolute favorite place to visit when I go to Iowa City!! If I’m in the area, I have to stop by. The have the best burritos ever and I will support them as long as I can. All of their ingredients are extremely fresh and delicious, the tortillas are like no one else’s and the people are so kind. It is a great business with even better food!!! You can’t miss B.A.C. Fridays either!!! Perfect for mornings after a night of drinking for college students, makes a great lunch too, and the burritos are so big you can even get two meals out of them.

This breakfast burrito was next-level! The most surprising and amazing part was finding a fresh pancake inside—it added such a unique flavor and texture that worked perfectly with the rest of the ingredients. Everything was fresh and cooked right in front of me, which made the whole meal taste even better.
The burritos are huge—definitely a “come hungry” kind of place—and for the size and quality, the value is fantastic. On top of that, the restaurant was very clean, and even the bathrooms were spotless, which shows how much care they put into their place.
If you’re looking for a breakfast that’s fresh, filling, and a little different, this is absolutely worth checking out! And I am sure the rest of their menu is just as fantastic!

I really liked this place ever since I settled in Iowa City: they offer a great quantity of food with good taste and price. After having a long day, my husband and I missed the burritos. We picked up food (one Iowan for me and another with chicken for my husband) and took it home. You can feel my joy from my first photo – the size of my burrito (the Iowan). Everything was great until I chewed a nail in the burrito. This is way beyond my imagination.
I felt so disgusting. I could not eat anything further and kept vomiting all night. One of my teeth hurts because I bit the nail hard. Nobody wants to pay for food that can jeopardize him/her, even for free or even being paid! The scariest thing is what if I swallowed this nail? What if there were two nails and I have already swallowed one? I am visiting the hospital today.
Last night, I tried to write and explain this using their website “contact” but the system never allows me to press the “submit” button. So I decided to write this review here.

The food, as usual, was delicious. However, to the young man working the cash register, shame on you. A customer patiently waits to be acknowledged in order to pick up an order and you decide to avoid eye contact and pretend they don’t exist? You don’t treat people that way, it is astonishing rude. The whole idea behind ordering 30-40 minutes ahead of time is to show up, pick up the order, and leave. Obviously if you need a minute or two to finish with the customer you’re already helping, that’s completely fine.
So, my advice is to learn some basic manners and minimum customer service skills. Example: “hi there, I’m finishing up an order but I’ll be right with you.” This is how grown ups treat people.

Burrito is worth it. Fresh ingredients and tortilla is fresh made. A great place to eat over chain restaurants. Def recommend going here to get lunch or a solid burrito. Excellent service. They have restroom too.

Really enjoyed how each burrito filling is made to order. It’s nice and definitely worth the $2 extra dollars compared to Panchero’s or Chipotle if you’re feeling fancy.
Would appreciate a trash can, easily available water.
Also – would be fun to have some type of billboard telling the story of the place.

They have the best tortillas. So fresh like at a restaurant I’d visit as a child where they’d make the tortillas fresh on the spot (at Chevy’s). They had a handful of vegetarian options, which was great. It would be very nice if they recycled. ♻️
