Serving breakfast and brunch, this trendy bakery in the heart of downtown Roanoke has everything you would expect – lots of coffee, lots things labeled ‘milk’ because they are white fluids, and complex confectionaries that are oh so tasty. Everything was easy clean and fast. I do kind of wish they had a better selection of non-coffee beverages, but that’s just me.

Stopped here looking for coffee and found amazing cookies, pecan rolls and bread. Friendly staff and a great place to sit and relax if you like a slow morning start. The menu items sounded really good also.

The biscotti. Back in the day I remember trying a few times (at other bakeries and little cafes) biscotti and had decided the biscotti just wasn’t my cup of tea. Too hard and tasteless (yes, even after dunking it in coffee or tea). And then, I tried it here at Breadcraft and realized I had been deceived. I finally tasted what a true biscotti should taste like. Molto magnifico! And here’s the kicker, I don’t come here for the biscotti. I get my baguettes, sliced campagna and other yum-yums as my primary source of decadence. Only suggestion for the master of the house is to bring back the ability to place orders same day (or at least, not 3 days in advance).

Wow! This is the best French toast I’ve had in years, thick, fluffy, eggy, crispy at the edges…just delicious. The coffee was great too, best cup I’ve had in Virginia.
There’s also an “Art-o-Mat” vending machine, a great vibe, good music, comfy seating, and the restrooms are spacious and clean.
If I’m in Roanoke again I’m definitely coming back.

Really lovely spot with wonderful selection of goodies. We went on Sunday for breakfast which was delicious and not too pricey. We then ordered a cookie, a brownie and a healthy cranberry scone to go. We also got one of their cards. The place is really beautiful and the service was prompt, staff was friendly and attentive.

Wow. I don’t go down town much but I happen to see this in reviews and figured I had to try. I got there early right after they opened on Christmas Eve and there was a long line. That is always a good sign. People were leaving with bags full. I ordered the spinach feta croissant. And it was amazing! I have the chocolate croissant to try for later. I’m glad I made an early morning trip and will definitely be stopping in again. The staff was very attentive, nice and helpful.

Initially I had called to place my to go order ahead of time but no one answered. I figured they were just busy and went it, when I was in there it was empty. Website isn’t up to date, no one cares. In fact they made fun of me for using their website. Then they made my drink order wrong. They fixed it but they first had to check that they had made it wrong and I wasn’t lying??? Usually things like this don’t bother me. But I mean really to be so callous as to not keep your menus up to date and then make fun of me for it. This place is not worth the price. I hate to make a bad review for a local business but maybe they need to hear it.

I had the best croissant in my life here – very flaky crispy crust and a tender but not doughy or mushy inside. One was filled with chocolate and raspberry, which may not always be available. The other was filled with spinach and feta cheeses – much like spanakopita, and was also excellent. There were a variety of breads that looked tempting. The atmosphere and decor was upscale casual, with brick walls, wall art, and granite tables. Staff were super friendly and helpful. They looked like they enjoyed working there! I highly recommend this place. It will be a must stop on my trips through Roanoke.

I wish I could inject this bakery into my veins. The cute seasonal items, the local art for sale, the overall vibe. I saw the pride croissants advertised online and thought they were too beautiful to pass up. Came in at 9:30AM hoping to grab some before they sold out and heard they were already out of chocolate croissants! The place was packed and I feel like they do sell out of the baked goods quite regularly so come early if you’re hoping for them. The croissants were so flaky and flavorful, well worth the price for the quality. I also got a blueberry scone and the sugar crystals on top were phenomenal.
