From the enormous disco ball plated with 10,000 pennies hanging over the dining room to the wall of antique tequila barrels, Bodega Negra is as much a feast for the eyes as it is the palate. Amidst the cozy, intimate, moodily-lit “Tudor Hacienda” décor, Executive Chef Brad Warner has crafted an upscale Mexican menu designed for sharing with small plates such as fresh ceviches, tacos and salads, as well as more generously proportioned dishes like Roasted Chile Rellano, Lamb Barbacoa Tacos and Carne Asade. Among Chef’s recent menu additions is the Fiesta Tower – an impressive three-tiered tower of Mexican street food.
Stylish, dark haunt with a clubby vibe serving Mexican fare in the Dream Downtown hotel.

Reviews
The food lived up to the reviews and presentation was nice. I would say the menu is a bit pricey for some items especially the
pitchers of sangria and the cost per glass.
But if you go out to a restaurant downtown you’re usually going to pay a bit more.
Portions look small but are very filling. I would come back for more tacos with a side of the guacamole. The steak tacos were my favorite. So tasty and full of flavor. It was delicious!
Great experience in my opinion.
We had the chicken & chorizo fajita (meat was so tender), chicken tacos (tasty, but too small for the price), yuca fries (for a side this was a large portion), sweet plantains (hit the sweet spot). We also had the white dome lava cake dessert.
There are so many great things about this place. I visit this restaurant during the restaurant week, starting with a happy hour margarita at the bar, very decent considering the price of it.
As soon as I got to my table, the ambience was so immersive surrounded by the dimmed lights and barrels on the walls. But the true experience came with the food.
Coming from a Latino culture, the dishes were mastered to almost perfection. Real Mexican blue corn flautas and queso fundido with chorizo we’re amazing, but the chicken tacos were the star of the show. For dessert, the tres leches cake was stunning and presentation can’t be better.
I will definitely come back to try the other options in the menu, and as I said, you won’t regret to spend a great date here with a club fresh atmosphere.
The drinks are different and yes, they are good.
The food was well done, it was flavorful, at least what I tried but nothing impressive.
The music is ok, even tho it was hard to hear. The space seems to be a bit crowded so it gives the feeling that we were on top of each other.
Our waiter was nice but it seemed like he was overwhelmed.
The fact that the place is dark…honoring the name the menus are hard to read.
Nothing was explained so I ended up ordering meat with no sides…lol also, did not find a great variety on the menu, that also killed my mood. But the desert is worth waiting for .
The place is in lower manhattan next to a hotel so you can expect the price is going to be high.
If I ever go back it won’t be on a group.
Staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. We requested the mirrored booth. Overall, great attentive service.
4-stars because their dishes are pricey- so I ordered two appetizers which were small portions but flavorful. The spicy rim drinks were poppin’ too
They have a good selection of drinks and tequilas and the service was great.
