This store needs leadership.
It’s 9am and the floor is sticky and the counters, tables and floors need cleaning. The staff have a very pleasant demeanor. I believe that this store could be amazing with the right leadership. The Asiago bagels are not bagels…

Ordered the Caprese Focaccia for pickup. Got there and still had to wait 10 minutes. Eating my sandwich and realize there’s no tomato. I then saw the bag sticker say “Modified. No arugula. No tomato.” I thought I did this by accident and opened the online order again to see how. Now I get a pop up “out of arugula.” Now, I assume they were out of tomato and arugula (online still lets you order tomato, hate for others to be disappointed). I wish this would have been communicated with me, because why on EARTH would I want to eat a cheese and balsamic glaze sandwich. I would have 100% ordered something else.
(Man did apologize for my wait when he handed me my food).

When I arrived for pick up, they were pleasant enough. However, an employee peeked in my bag before giving it to me. I made it all the way back to work before opening my bag and the sandwich wasn’t in there. I then had to go back to the store. Notified them, and the caisher told me that they were out of the bagels needed for the sandwich, which is why they didn’t make it. He then told me I could get a refund or another sandwich made. Then he suggested them making the same sandwich but using different bread. I waited and watched as the kitchen staff made 3 other sandwiches for customers that came in after me and placed their orders with the cashier. I then had to ask for a refund after 15 minutes of waiting. I asked why the bag was given to me initally without notifying me that the order was not complete or why they didn’t reach out prior to my arrival. The cashier stated it wasn’t his fault and that the kitchen was responsible. he said he asked the kitchen to make the sandwich, to this i witnessed, but the kitchen staff man with the blue hair ignored him. They were unapologetic for the entire experience and wasted my entire 30 minute lunch. Absolutely unacceptable. A little empathy goes a very long was and not one apology was given.

Sadly, an AWFUL & VERY DISAPPOINTING experience all-around. We used to go to a Panera on Azalea Square in Summerville at least 1-2 times per week. We stopped going 3 years ago because of the awful service. Well, I can now add this site to my “Restaurants to Avoid” list.

We arrived around 1:00PM to a nearly empty restaurant. Tableware was piled up atop bus tubs, and the floors were littered with crumbs, napkins, and garbage. We used our own wipes to clean a table. We had to exchange our metal spoons for plastic ones because they were all dirty and looked like they were taken directly from the bus tub. And the staff member who exchanged them for us seemed completely unconcerned that their utensils were all still laden with food from previous customers.

Now for the food: the Chicken & Wild Rice soup was more the consistency of stew; the baguette was stale; the grilled cheese sandwich was nearly tasteless on stale bread; and the sweet tea was not even remotely sweet. I’m posting before-and-after photos showing mostly uneaten food/drink from a very hungry customer eating a very disappointing lunch at Panera. At least the chocolate chip cookie was warm, fresh, and very tasty. Other than that, nothing good about this visit. We won’t be visiting any Panera restaurant for a very long time, if ever.

I’m leaving the bottom portion of this for people to read. I was at the same restaurant about five months ago and left this review with a five star rating. I am editing the review now, which is December 19, 2024. I just revisited this location and unfortunately Did not have the same satisfaction. The restaurant was very dirty, including behind the counter. There were bagels on the floor that look like they had been there for quite a while. There were crumbs and dirt all over the kitchen area as well as in the dining area. The restrooms were dirty andin general, the whole restaurant was very rundown. The employees were friendly, but seemed to struggle with exactly what they were supposed to do. Hopefully the management can assist in training and helping employees. Get the restaurant back to a clean inviting environment.
It took a while to get service, but the food was great. The restaurant environment was clean and well. The restroom was also very clean. Which is much appreciated.

Spent over 30$ for two small cups of soup, with two sad soggy grilled cheese that fit in my hand and two pieces of bread loaf. Have tried ordering from this Panera over the years, they consistently have not gotten my order right and have been a total let down in quality control. They do not care about your take out order, the only decent sandwich I have ever gotten was an accidental dine-in order; when they know you will come back up to them if it is done poorly. Save your money if you want quality, spend it elsewhere.

Drive to Panera to purchase soup two different types for our cold evening dinner, Also order they’re Cheese steak sandwich, All to go.. When I got home after paying $20,99 A qt of soup x 2 twice and a half of a sandwich, Which we opened up, it had three tiny pieces of thin beef on it..no meat..Who would even put a sandwich together like this..with no meat..And charge you 8+ dollars..the French Onion soup had no cheese..$ 60 dollars later..Not falling for this ever again..Bad business YOU DON’T GET WHAT YOUR PAYING FOR…

Now I remember why I hadn’t eaten at a Panera in like 5 or so years. This is a (full) $12 sandwich? I understand it’s 2023 and society ain’t the same, but c’mon. The place was filthy too.
So why did I give them 2 stars? My girlfriend’s street corn soup bread bowl was not bad, and my daughter did like her mac n cheese. But this was not worth $44 between three people. And yes it’s my fault because we were in a rush and we didn’t check for nor notice the 3.5 star rating. Had we noticed that we would’ve driven right by and went for $1.50 hot dogs at Costco. I hate doing this but we all work way too hard for our money these days.

Update

Came in on 10/26 to give them another chance…..
There’s a saying. Exes are exes for a reason. The same should go for restaurants they don’t treat you well walk away. I went in to order autumn squash soup at 10:30am. Imagine my surprise to be told that they don’t serve soup until 11. To my left is a table with people eating soup. (Photo provided) so I settle for the avocado toast with feta cheese. Basically got feta bread. Looks like they put avocado on it then scrape most of it off. (Photo provided) I don’t know if it’s the company itself that sucks, the employees or West Ashley in general. It’s bad when McDonalds is better. And I do not eat there. I strongly suggest passing this one by. It’s just a headache and the children running the store are not friendly, you are not created and walked by as if you do not exist. 25 years of hospitality management and my establishes would never…. Go at your own risk. You’ve been warned.

I specifically ordered the strawberry poppyseed salad because I’m a vegetarian and they sent me a strawberry chicken poppyseed salad. I don’t have any words. I order all of the time. I will NOT ever order from here again.

You can tell that corporate/franchise doesn’t care at all about there restaurants as no one is running the google page. All of these bad reviews and still not even an apology. I ran restaurants for 25 years I promise you that this will not change.

Ordered almost $50 for my family and I. We didn’t even get half the items we actually ordered. Called the store and the manager allegedly can’t (won’t) attempt to work towards a resolution until tomorrow. Called corporate instead and got a refund on the missing items in 5 minutes. Completely unprofessional, incompetent, and lazy management here.
