We ate here many years ago and really enjoyed it, so we were happy to return when friends suggested it. Unfortunately, the restaurant has gone way downhill.

The Chicken was barely warm, and the coleslaw — which should be cold — was also warm and didn’t taste right. This was especially disappointing since it used to be our favorite item.

The chicken was very pink, and when we brought it to the counter, we were told that was “normal.” and a replacement was offered, but even that wasn’t good. She was very nice though. Just wish we would have got a refund. We ate a few bights and couldn’t do it. Our friends like their food okay but said it has really gone down since they were there last.

The booths were torn and in poor condition, and we were almost the only customers on a Saturday night. Sadly, this wasn’t the experience we remembered, and we won’t be returning.

Price is out the roof. $3 for a soda. I got the pulled pork plate. Half of it was fat, but the edible portion was good. The potato salad is awesome and so was the cheesy corn.

I really liked this place! This restaurant is so spacious and clean. The only problem I had was that it’s kinda chilly, but I’m always cold so that’s probably not a problem for anyone else but me. I wasn’t too hungry so I got a kids meal with pork, and this is by far the best pulled pork I have ever had. I would come back if it wasn’t two and a half hours away from home . For those like me who care, this is a Coca-Cola restaurant.

The food was fire! My husband and I both had the half smoked chicken—meat was juicy with a great smoky flavor, though the skin didn’t do much for us. We loved trying all the different sauces. I got the burnt end cheesy corn and baked home fries (that corn was insane—my husband barely got a bite!). He had the baked beans and home fries, which were also solid.

That said, the building definitely needs some love. Booths were falling apart, and it wasn’t the cleanest. Still, if you’re in it for good BBQ and don’t mind a little wear and tear, it’s worth the stop.

Great bbq overall, and possibly the best pulled chicken ever! Don’t know how you do it! If you like heat, sauce #3 is AMAZING. Perfect combo of heat without losing flavor.

Loved this BBQ joint for years. Definitely my favorite in town for their sides (especially burnt ends cheesy corn and the potato salad), and the meat is a given as well. The pulled pork is always great, along with the chicken. My mom loves their ribs. Plenty of seating as well, bring the whole crew!

Another update

I wasn’t going to put this in my review, this could happen anywhere… but… the more I think about it, the more frustrated I get.

I ordered 2 meats, ham and burnt ends-
The ham was moldy. When I told the staff, she said it was the smoke seasonings.
What? When ham molds, it looks green and metallic and shiny, like fish skin? I guess, that’s what this looked like. (See pics) She said it was their seasonings.
That frustrated me. So, I said ok, you take a bite of it. No response to that.
They did give me a large bowl of more burnt ends and they were delicious as well as the cheesy corn, as always. I just couldn’t enjoy it as I was paranoid about moldy food.
I’m not happy about the ham and insulted that she tried to spin it as seasonings. What seasonings are metallic green? C’mon

Update-
My friend and I went back, still at 4 stars. The burnt end portions were much better. We had the burnt ends cheesy corn… phenomenal!!!
Also had the smoked sausage- excellent! Best smoked sausage we have had in a long time!! So good!
Only a couple of negatives.
They had a sign at the entrance stating ham as a special. I ordered it and they were out of ham… why is the sign still out?
Then I ordered burnt ends- I got the last of them. It’s early on a Friday??? You’re out of ham and burnt ends?
The rest was great! I highly recommend!

Original review-
I had a nice dinner at Whole Hog Cafe. I had the two meat platter w/ burnt ends, ham, Cheesy Corn, and baked beans.
My friend had two meats w/ burnt ends, pulled pork, Cheesy Corn and coleslaw.
No complaints on the food taste, that Cheesy Corn is worth fighting over! Everything tasted great. The portion sizes of the sides were fine. The meat portions were disappointing. They were so small. The burnt ends were just four small bites. (See pics) The ham was about the same. If I’m ordering the two meat platter I kind of expect a decent amount of meat. Both my friend and I were disappointed.
The sauce choices are great, we both liked the #5 the best.
The place was very clean and the cashier was friendly.

Where to start? My entire experience here was amazing. This place even smells heavenly. The restaurant is clean and roomy, ordering your food is quick and easy. The staff is organized, efficient, and friendly, and the food. Well, it is simply delicious . We got the whole hog platter and easily shared it between the two of us. The pulled pork is moist and delicious, as is the brisket. We added a smoked sausage and that was fantastic, too. My husband loved the ribs and all sides were on point. Beer avails well as tea and fountain drinks. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Whole Hog Café has some of the best BBQ around. The food is consistently delicious, packed with flavor, and always hits the spot. We treat our team here often, and it’s become a favorite because everyone loves it. Great food, great portions, and a place we’re always happy to support.

Had the pulled Pork Nachos, wife had the sandwich. The Pork was very delicious, extremely flavorful, but, I feel there should have been a few ounces more. The cheese sauce tasted like the cheap canned stuff. But for $11. Not too bad
The pulled Pork sandwiches combo lunch special is a good deal. Store is clean, plenty of clean tables or booths
