If you have never been to Terraza’s in the summer, like 12 o’clock ish. You are missing out. We were sat but by a young gentlemen who knew the menu very well. It wasn’t busy and he was very attentive. We started out with breakfast, and let me say this, I have never in my life ate bacon that thick before lol. But after breakfast we were talked into mimosas and margaritas. My only critique is that mix they use needs to be sweeter not tart.
But we sat there for hours, enjoying the move, the peace and quiet, the boats and people. This was one of thee, if not thee, first time we had decided our move across country was worth it. Our total for the day was around $300 with tip.
From the moment we walked in, it was clear that we were not welcomed; we were tolerated. The hostess was not present. When she came to the desk, she elected to take a phone call before speaking with us. When she was finished with her phone call and addressed us, I let her know that we had a reservation and she started analyzing her map for a table at which to seat us. For a reservation, mind you.
She picked a table and we sat down. Not a huge problem, but contributive to the experience, our candle was not lit and, after a few minutes, I just decided to light it myself.
Our waiter arrived, asked us for drink orders, and then took the holiday menus. Fortunately, we had already looked at them and knew what we planned to order. When he returned for our order, I was informed that the entree I ordered was no longer available and I needed to pick something else. I asked if he would match the price, $3 if I remember correctly, for another entree that was slightly more expensive. Without missing a beat, he said no. No apology for it being unavailable, no explanation that prices were set in stone and he couldn’t help me, just a flat no.
We placed our order, got our food in short order and began eating. Once our food was halfway gone, he returned with boxes for us. A silent reminder that we were not welcome.
We filled out boxes, got the check, and paid. Then he gave me a pen that still had the wax tip over the ball.
Nothing here by itself would warrant a poor review, maybe just a poor remark in an otherwise pleasant review. Unfortunately, the summary of experiences were one poor reflection after another.
I’m truly disappointed with the experience. I am now in my car, one hour to the minute from the moment the hostess got off her phone call. Unsatisfied, dejected, disrespected, and never returning to this establishment.
While the good was good, my hubby thinks he got a bit of food poisoning from his food.
My mashed potatoes had a peice of what I think was chicken in it, which grossed me out, especially since I ordered steak, and not chicken.
My daughter was happy with her burger.
The staff was very friendly and did a great job!
But with the price of everything one would think the food and Margaritas would be better.
Unfortunately I don’t think we will be going back.
What we got: shrimp, chilies, cilantro and a few pieces of mango.
We don’t eat shrimp, so felt safe to order. Be ware if you can’t have shrimp, they don’t list it. After 20 minutes when the waitress came back, I told her this was the wrong order. Instead of apologizing or offering to fix, she went and checked with the kitchen & manager…. Said this is what they have and how it is served. Last comment, the shrimp looked raw. I make ceviche myself and never had my fish look raw, I use cod.
The margaritas were tasty but no alcohol. Priced at $13 each, you think they would have a little alcohol.
We order a poblano burger with a Cesar salad. The salad was great, the burger was a bit plain.
The mahi-mahi tacos…. Not so tasty. A small strip of fish & a little coleslaw. The fish was overcooked.
My mom ordered a steak sandwich, she loved it.
Follow up: I spoke with the manager Tally, she is amazing. She apologized for this misunderstanding of the ceviche. All of their ceviche comes with shrimp, they are updating the menu’s.
The fact she reached out , makes a huge difference. Thank you Tally.
Second trip update:
We got to sit on the patio tonight and it was really nice and relaxing. The service was great. Our server was really friendly. We had a burger this time, another steak, the chicken Cobb salad. The chicken cob salad was amazing and huge like two people could easily share it and be full and the chicken was very nicely cooked. It is crispy and so delicious. My husband’s burger had a bunch of bacon on it like huge thick slices. My daughter had the steak again and she said it was a little tough but it looked really good and she still said it tasted good. We did two desserts this time. The cookie skillet is out of this world amazing. And we also did a peach cobbler type dessert. Again it was expensive as expected, but it was a good dinner. Will be back.
