In August 2025, we visited the Hong Kong Restaurant in Astoria, Oregon. We came to Astoria from out of state to do some boating and fishing. Hong Kong Restaurant had delicious and plentiful food, and definitely satisfied our appetites. The food was fresh and prepared quickly. We ordered the House Special and Chow Mein dishes, and this was plenty of food for 2 adults. Hong Kong seems to charge reasonable prices for the quantity and quality of the food provided. Eating here was an enjoyable and memorable experience.

My family had recommended this restaurant to me if I was in Astoria, so I tried Hong Kong Restaurant out today. The portions are fairly large and they have decent-priced lunch specials but, unfortunately, for me, the food was not that tasty . I ordered the Sweet And Sour Chicken and Almond Chicken with steamed white rice. The food tasted like it was reheated and not particularly fresh. The Almond Chicken was really unappetizing. The chicken was off color , very chewy, and covered in not-so- flavorful or pleasant beige gravy. I did see a few almonds on top but, after one bite, I didn’t eat anymore. Really a big “yuck” for me. The Sweet And Sour Chicken was okay, but again, did not taste fresh. One of my dining partners said the food wasn’t what they were used to ( as they’d visited a few times), so maybe it was an “off day”. In any case, I was not impressed and not sure I’d come back… A real bummer because I was really expecting to like the food.

This is the best Chinese food in Astoria Oregon ( In our opinion). We have tried the competition The food is fresh, and very hot. Service is prompt, and friendly. To start our table had egg flower and hot and sour soup. Both were hot and good. My plate had General Tso’s, fried shrimp, pork chow mein and fried rice. The fried shrimp was cooked to perfection! The General Tso’s was very good as well. Fried rice was tasty. I wish the pork chow mein had a bit more flavor. My spouse had Fried shrimp, Chicken subgum, fried rice and BBQ pork. His only complaint was that the BBQ pork was bland. Servings are large and filling. The restaurant itself is a bit dated, but so are most there in Astoria. We will be back.

YIKES. Threw it away! Gray meat, the food has gone bad. Everything had a old/off smell. And everything looked re-heated. I would love my $44 back. I have my reciept! The spring roll had gray filling. This food had gone bad. It was a major food poisoning concern, I will not return. Avoid this place, it’s not good.
Nice guy, took my order. Bummed it was a waste of money. Hope the few bites, my family had don’t make us sick. We tossed everything out.
*EDITED to say, I called to express my concerns. I would be given a refund, if I returned the order. It’s in the trash can, I am not digging through it. It would be nice to be believed. The customer is always right. Sorry!

We were heading out of town but wanted to get a bite to eat. Driven by several times & stopped. Not too busy – service was quick. Food served hot & plentiful & great price.

I have been looking for an old school 1960 style Cantonese restaurant for years. Everybody switched over to Szechuan or Mandarin which I don’t care for as much.
This place serves all the items I liked and remember as a kid. They serve them the way I like. Exactly! Add to this fantastically fast service, I couldn’t ask for more. Nothing on my plate was perfect and it probably would warrant four 4 star rating back in the day but, since it was such a long time finding it I gave it a five-star

I know it doesn’t look like much on the outside and the inside is dated, but the food is delicious. The service is great , the food is delicious, the portions are large and the price is reasonable based on the portions and quality. It was the last Chinese restaurant location we tried in Astoria because of how it looked from the outside. We were wrong, don’t judge a book by its cover, it’s the only Chinese place we eat at in Astoria. Love this place and highly recommend you give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

We ate lunch here and I ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork with Pork Fried Rice. Husband had the Szechuan Beef. Egg flower soup was really good. The whole meal was good and the only problem we had was with the coffee because it was REALLY bad. Bitter and burnt. Don’t order the coffee if you go.
