This diner feels like home the second you walk in. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting, and full of that classic “small town comfort” vibe. The staff treats you like family — attentive, friendly, and genuinely happy to make sure you’re taken care of.

The service is fantastic: quick without feeling rushed, and everyone goes above and beyond to make your meal perfect. The food tastes just like a home-cooked meal, hearty and full of flavor. You can tell there’s real care behind everything they serve.

If you’re looking for a place where you can relax, enjoy great food, and feel completely welcomed, this is the spot. Absolutely deserves all 5 stars!

While meandering around our local neighborhood, my husband and I stumbled upon this tiny diner and gave it a try. We’re so glad we did, because this hole in the wall turned out to be a diamond in the rough.

With a nondescript exterior and limited signage, Foodies Diner is easy to miss. It’s in an area with mainly houses and mixed use commercial buildings, but the space inside is cozy. I especially appreciated the way the owner greeted everyone who enters and thanked everyone who leaves with notable warmth and small-town friendliness.

The menu reads like a true diner – with all-day breakfast and brunch options, as well as standard lunch fare. We ordered a Santa Fe salad and an L.A. burger – which comes with avocado, bacon, onion, lettuce, and tomatoes. The burger was pretty standard, but having it delivered on a warm brioche bun feels a little bit special. The accompanying fries were also great – crisp and potatoey on the inside.

The salad, on the other hand, was a near triumph. Served on a large platter, there was a small field of well-seasoned chicken, shredded cheddar, vegetables, avocado, pico de gallo, and – best yet – some pieces of warm, toasted pita. I even sprinkled some pieces of bacon from my burger into this salad, and wow did that take it over the top. I dug into this salad with fair gusto and would absolutely come back for it…which is saying something, since I wouldn’t expect to fall in love with a salad at a diner.

Service was fantastic, and we were pleased with how reasonably priced our meal turned out to be. There’s plenty of parking – either right out front or in the lot further back.

I really enjoyed my visit to Foodies. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food was fantastic, and the portions were very generous. I had the French toast, and it came with a very large portion of bacon. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The service was excellent, and the owner, Teddy, was wonderful and made the experience even better. All around a great spot, and I would absolutely love to go back the next time I’m in Jersey

Came by on a Saturday for brunch at around 11. The restaurant isn’t that big but it wasn’t too packed at that time. To start you off, they give you some complimentary french toast bites. I normally am not a huge fan of french toast, but these were really good. We ordered some disco fries to share because after six years of living in Jersey, I don’t think I’ve ever had disco fries (GASP)! They were good but you have to eat them quickly because they cool off fast, which makes the cheese kind of chunky. For the entree, I had a Philly cheesesteak panini and upgraded to onion rings. The meat was kind of dry, and the bread seemed more like pita bread than panini. The onion rings were great though. Hubby had one of the specials, which was the fruity pebbles pancakes, which we both liked.

Overall, it was still a good experience. Not every dish at a diner can be a winner.

Tip – there is a parking lot around the back but it’s small and some of the spots are a bit awkward to park in

Loved the atmosphere and the service! Went for brunch on Saturday and it was great. Definitely want to go back and try the other dishes!

Peanut butter & jelly shake: loved this!! A nice balance between the peanut butter and the fruit flavor!

Buffalo chicken omelette: overall a solid omelette, nice kick with the Buffalo sauce, the bleu cheese chunks were pretty intense

Short stack of pancakes: these seemed a bit heavy to me

Red velvet waffle: the batter was also pretty heavy on these, but I did love that even though there were red velvet cake pieces IN the waffle, it wasn’t overly sweet. If the batter is lighter in the future I’ll definitely order it again!

Grilled cheese & waffle fries: waffle fries were very crispy and on point! And the grilled cheese was perfect. Brought me back to being a kid ❤️

Me and my friend came here one morning because we wanted to try something local and new! We were not disappointed.

Though small and unassuming on the outside – it was cozy on the inside! There were both booths and tables – plus an easy layout to find the restroom and to navigate around. We were greeted by the most friendliest staff and they made it feel like we’ve known each other for years when it was only our first time. They were also very accommodating to my requests and were patient with me when I made changes to my order. There was only 2 people working on the floor while we were eating but they always made sure we were tended to and were doing okay!

The food had good portions and tasted amazing! I had the Hash Benedicts and my friend ordered the Fresh fruit waffles. The Benedict was perfectly runny (you have a choice on how you want it cooked) and they did not skimp out on the meats. The home fries were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and were seasoned well. I also ordered a Cappuccino with whipped cream and cinnamon on top and it came in a cute glass so you could see the layers well. While we were waiting for our food they even gave us French toast bites to try!

I would definitely come back to try their lunch/dinner menu. They serve a solid breakfast! I wish I came here more growing up because it’s so close to my old high school – I highly recommend this establishment and you should definitely stop by if you’re in the area!

Great service. Such a home feel. And the food suits the name of the place. Can’t wait to visit NJ and go back to the home vibes of foodies.

Our lovely waitress was a gem, nicest person you could have taking your order. The place is small but we had no trouble getting a table on Sunday lunch time. The food wasn’t bad, but really nothing special or memorable. We got 4 different omelettes with home fries and toast, pancakes and french toast. French toast would be the only thing we’d order again. There’s parking in the back but you can really smell the jet exhaust from the airport that’s basically next door. The placemats have lots of kids activities on the back so that kept them busy. Oh and table seemed short, none of us are super tall and I’m just 5’4 but we kept bumping legs with each other under the table.

UPDATE – 3/2/25
New Jersey, often overshadowed by its more famous neighbor New York, is a treasure trove for food enthusiasts.

Most Jerseyans know the big names when it comes to Jersey dining destinations: Montclair, Red Bank, Jersey City, Morristown, Cape May, Ridgewood, Asbury Park, Hoboken, and the list goes on. But what about places that deserve to be on the culinary map, say South Hackensack?

Located on Huyler Street, this family-owned establishment likes to put a twist on diner classics to create innovative new flavors.

Foodies Diner opened in 2021 and is where we came for lunch after our last visit a year ago.

My partner and I were greeted by the owner, Teddy, upon entering this cozy, modern vibe and got a booth right away by the register. Their menu feeds that diner fix with huge selections for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. We decided on the Cod Filet and Grilled Chicken Navajo accompanied with fries. We were treated with the sample of the Chef-Prepared Rice Pudding.

The food was amazingly tasty, made with fresh ingredients and good portions. The fries were crispy and not greasy. The price was reasable for the area. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and full of energy, especially our server, London. I had a great conversation exchanging notes with Teddy.

We had another wonderful dining experience, which we continue to recommend.

My boyfriend and I had such a great experience here for breakfast yesterday! The staff was super accommodating as soon as we walked in. They had us seated comfortably right away. Our waitress was so sweet! She had perfect recommendations to order since it was our first time there. She also got us French toast samples while we waited that was delicious. I personally got the Nutella French toast that was so delicious! And it’s made on challah bread! Our coffee was refilled promptly and we were always attended to overall. There was also fun trivia cards on the tables that we enjoyed. Foodies feels so cozy and welcoming. 10/10 would recommend!
